In June 2014 on the Ukrainian resource "Facts and Comments" there was information about the outbreak of a fire poltergeist in one of the high-rise buildings in the central district of Zhitomir, Ukraine. It was reported that for more than six months now, an unknown anomalous element has been haunting the family in their four-room apartment.

Six people live in the “restless” dwelling: 67-year-old Yuri Plyusnin with his wife Elena, daughter with son-in-law, 14-year-old grandson, and 92-year-old mother-in-law of Yuri. The latter is paralyzed, so a separate room has been set aside for her.

According to Yuri, unexplained incidents in the apartment began in the fall of 2013, when a large three-door wardrobe fell in the bedroom. The man decided that the legs of the cabinet were broken, replaced them and put them in place. But a few days later the cabinet fell again. Then the mezzanine fell spontaneously in my daughter's bedroom several times. After moving the furniture in the apartment, spontaneous combustion began.

But even with this development of events, the head of the family tried to find a rational explanation for the strange episodes. “The flame flares up instantly, it happens for no reason and in the most unpredictable places,” says Yuri. - It was not possible to establish the cause of the fires. I tried to identify the arsonist, but when the shirt caught fire on my grandson's body in front of my eyes, I was finally convinced that this was not his trick. He's definitely not able to move the cabinet."

According to the observations of the Plyusnins, most often fires occurred from 8 to 10 am and from 11 pm to 1 am. It was during these hours that the whole family was as vigilant as possible, they were often on duty in turn. In this case, flashes of flame could occur simultaneously in different parts of the apartment. Up to thirty fires could occur during the day. Usually, with fire poltergeists, the phenomenon tries to set fire to things that can be quickly extinguished by potential eyewitnesses.

In the case of Zhytomyr, such humanity was not always manifested. Quite often, things caught fire in empty rooms, as a result of which they completely burned out, and they had to be thrown away. So the household failed to save the chair, sofa and much more. In addition to furniture, beds and other things, they caught fire, including fragments of walls.

Clothing could also catch fire directly on the body of eyewitnesses. Likewise, Yuri's three shirts were burned, holes about 30 centimeters in size burned out in them. Two T-shirts burned out on the grandson. It has been observed that such fires tend to occur on the back. In these cases, family members felt “a sudden strong warmth”, after which the clothes had to be thrown off immediately, otherwise there could be a burn.

In order to effectively counteract the fiery attacks of the "noisy spirit", the Plyusnins have to keep containers filled with water everywhere - buckets, bowls and bottles. Here is what Elena, 65, Yuri's wife, says: “We began to cover the furniture with rags, as a result, they also began to flare up. Fortunately, everything is stewed without problems. As soon as something lights up, immediately cover it with a row or fill it with water. Mostly thin tissue breaks out. Therefore, to reduce the likelihood of fire, curtains and tulle were removed from all windows.

Yuri noticed that the beginning of unexplained phenomena in their apartment coincided with the move of his mother-in-law. Initially, an elderly woman lived in her house in the village, but after a stroke she was hospitalized. The death of a roommate made a strong impression on the grandmother, after which she became withdrawn and even strange.

According to Yuri, the mother-in-law, despite the paralysis, managed to climb repeatedly over the high partition of the bed. After that, they decided to put her on the floor, on the pillows, but they started tossing her on these pillows. Households began to admit that an “evil spirit” had entered into my grandmother, which was responsible for all the outrage in their apartment.

Partially the focality of the elderly woman was confirmed by the head. Department of Physics, Zhitomir State University named after Franko, Professor Alexander Tkachenko, who carried out a series of measurements in a “restless” apartment. He noted that measurements next to his grandmother indicated a sharply increased electromagnetic background and suggested installing screens to block the “propagation of electromagnetic waves”, which can cause fires in the apartment.

The appeal to the staff of the local Emergencies Ministry did not bring any results. Experts classified the fire as careless handling of fire, but noted that they did not understand how these fires occur.

On April 28, 2014, the Plyusnins' family invited two Orthodox priests who consecrated the apartment. The fires stopped, but fire attacks resumed a week later. The feet were forced to turn to the clergy again, but from another church. The new father said that such phenomena are not uncommon in Zhitomir and promised to help. This time, more detailed ceremonies were carried out, as a result of which the fires in the Plyusnins' apartment stopped again.

At the moment, Ukrainian experts from Cosmopoisk are investigating this case. The group plans to visit the "restless" apartment and clarify the current state of affairs. Let us recall that the fiery activity of a poltergeist is one of the most critical forms of its manifestation, and always causes maximum damage to the property of residents. At the same time, fires rarely cause real physical harm to the victims of the “noisy spirit”.

Research experience shows that the more active and frequent the manifestations of a poltergeist, the sooner its energy disappears, and the faster it stops. In this case, the Zhitomir case seems to be a kind of exception to the rule: the flow period is very prolonged, the flame is capable of causing burns, fires occur in empty rooms, which leads to complete burnout of large objects.
