Two residents of Chicago, having gone on a fishing trip to the banks of the Calumet River on April 27, 2017, encountered a black flying entity, which is often called a moth man or owl man.
Father and son chose a fishing spot opposite Hagwish Park, where they caught some good catfish last time. This location is next to a railway overpass that runs east-west alongside 130th Street.
“It was about half past seven in the evening and we were already packing our rods when we heard a sound like the squeal of train brakes. But the problem was that there was no train to be seen,”the trains rushed quite loudly along the overpass, but it was quiet around, and the fishermen heard only the distant noise of occasional cars passing along the highway.
The strange sound came once more, and they saw something black flying towards the trees on the other side of the river on their left.
“At first we thought it was a big bird, but it looked too huge. A minute later, we heard this sound again, and this thing flew right under the overpass and headed down the river,”- the flying creature, according to eyewitnesses, was completely different from the birds they had ever seen.
The completely black creature, the size of a tall adult, had huge black wings with a span "from tip to tip over three meters."
“This creature flew past us in a few seconds, and we could not see it in more detail. It seemed to us that it flew straight out of hell. We stood and watched it fly away. I was just stunned, but then my son said that he had read about the giant bats that had been seen several times in Chicago recently. Maybe it was one of them? - Father and son, fearing the return of a terrible monster, reeled from there fishing rods as fast as they could.
“I am sorry that I can not give you more detailed information about this entity, but, frankly, I am grateful to fate that we were at a sufficient distance from it,” the father wrote in his message to the UFO Information Center.

Manuel Navarette, an investigator at the Chicago UFO Center, who is investigating such cases, said that in April 2017, there were already five reports of a black flying moth man.
