Scientists know how to get by on Mars without Earth's resources.
When people arrive on the Red Planet, it will take time for them to adapt to local conditions. They will also have to learn how to extract and use resources in ways that were not planned.
Colonizing Mars will not be an easy feat for humanity. Needs billions of dollars and years of dedicated research led by some of the world's smartest scientists and engineers.
Scientists believe that the development of Mars should proceed independently of the Earth, that is, obtaining all the necessary resources should be carried out directly on Mars, and not brought there from Earth.
"Mars must be explored independently of the Earth," said one of the Red Planet's explorers.
On Mars, colonists will have to search and locate building materials, oxygen and water for the life and construction of the colony. Scientists are confident that using low temperatures, it will be possible to convert silicates and basalt rocks found on Mars by rovers and orbiters into simple stone compounds for housing.
Oxygen can be extracted through chemical reactions or by releasing it from rocks.
In addition, water and oxygen can be “pulled” from the Martian atmosphere using special techniques.
