A sudden, powerful, anomalous ice shockwave covered Sardinia, an Italian island in the Mediterranean, enveloping it in a 30cm deep “blanket of snow”. This happened after temperatures suddenly dropped from 35C to 12C despite record heatwaves across the continent August 2, 2018. Temperatures dropped to 12 degrees and the 30-centimeter hailstones caused havoc on busy roads. Bystanders are shocked by the “Snow Blanket” on the roads, just minutes after a sweltering 35C heat wave.
The strange hailstorm was captured on camera by drivers on Strada 131 in Campeda, Sardinia, which prompted dozens of requests for emergency services.
The sudden abnormal sharp change in temperature and powerful hail caused havoc among motorists, including accidents.
A strange explosion of cold temperature was also felt in neighboring cities, including Mamoiada, Sorgono and Tonara.
Viewers on the internet describe the weather videos from Sardinia as “incredible”, while others claim “the end is near” due to the strange weather.
