In December 2014, a student at a local school found a severed human head on the side of the Mason Road country road, 30 miles from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The guy at first thought it was the remains of a deer, but then he saw a head that looked straight at him from the grass.
The frightened young man ran away and told the police about his terrible find. The police searched everything around with the help of dogs and people, but did not find other parts of the body of the unknown victim. More precisely, the deceased, since the head, judging by its appearance, belonged to a 50-60-year-old woman.
At the same time, her face was very clean and well-groomed, all her teeth were in place and the dentist worked very well on them, and her hair was evenly colored in a silver-gray color. In addition, the woman's head was carefully embalmed.
The incision that separated her head from the unidentified body was very precise and straight, and the rest of her cervical spine was carefully removed.
The identification of the woman's personality through her dental casts yielded nothing, and the drawing of her appearance created by the artist, which was widespread in the media, also went into emptiness. The fact that the head was embalmed may indicate that the woman's head was brought from the morgue or dug out of the grave after the funeral.
However, inspections of cemeteries and morgues also yielded nothing, and no one in the funeral homes recognized this woman. Facts of desecration of graves were not found at any of the local cemeteries.
The cause of the woman's death remained unclear and other remains of her body have never been found. The more the forensic scientists studied her head, the more questions they had, and the whole thing took on an ominously mystical turn.

Traces of lidocaine and atropine were found in her vessels, so there was a version that the woman was undergoing cardiopulmonary resuscitation. It is possible that she was the cause of her death. But who embalmed her head and then carefully cut it off and threw it on the road?
When studying the eyes, even more mysteries arose, since the eyeballs themselves were not found, instead there were thin eye lenses (they are used in morgues) and red rubber balls under them. There was a version that the eyes were removed for donor purposes, but for this they usually use only the cornea and replacing the eyes with completely red balls is definitely not a common procedure. The local doctor had never seen anything like it.
In the end, the researchers came up with a very ominous assumption. If a woman's head was separated from the body with surgical precision and with the help of not knives, but surgical instruments, they cut out her eyes, embalmed her, carefully removed parts of the spine and all this did not go through either morgues or hospitals, then this was done clandestinely … It is a well-developed and hidden body parts trading network.
After that, the researchers made their attempt to find out whether a human head could be purchased on the black market for organs. But when the police found out about their idea, they had to abandon it. But Reuters reporter Brian Grow decided to do his own investigation and he found someone who was willing to sell him two human heads for $ 300. Grow bought these heads and, having studied them, he concluded that the cuts on them are very similar to those on the head of the unknown Jane Doe.
Thus, Jane Doe may have been the victim of and killed by clandestine organ traffickers. But the mystery remained. Why is there no trace of her? A DNA search also yielded nothing. This woman seemed to have never existed.
Andrew Cull, a senior detective at the Beaver County District Attorney's office, admitted in 2016 that his quest for Jane Doe's identity nearly drove him insane in two years. He says that he has never faced such a mysterious case.
The huge number of corpses that are almost impossible to identify has become a big problem. The reason for her death remains a mystery, who separated the head from the body, why the head was embalmed and the eyes were replaced with red balls, and then they were simply thrown away on a half-abandoned rural road on which almost no one walks.
