The condition when a person cries with blood is most often caused by hemolacria. Cases of a little-studied disease were observed as early as the 16th century.
The Italian physician Antonio Brassavola, in his writings, mentioned a nun who cried bloody tears on critical days. That is, menstrual flow came out in the form of tears, and not naturally.
In 1991, studies were carried out, during which it was found that menstruation can actually lead to ophthalmic hemolacria. The reason for this condition is the failure of hormones, while the usual form of the disease is provoked by other factors: trauma, infection, tumors of the lacrimal glands.
