Fascinating stories about encounters with UFOs, "green men", and other space aliens excite the reader today, perhaps no less than very specific earthly problems.

An event that took place more than 50 years ago can be considered a kind of starting point for intriguing stories, sensational confessions of "eyewitnesses". Then the inhabitants of the American state of New Mexico observed in the sky unusual luminous objects, similar to flat discs that crashed. It was argued, in particular, that at the site of the wreckage were found humanoids, not similar to the known earthly creatures.

The news of the aliens spread around the world community at a cosmic speed, causing all sorts of rumors, speculation, guesses, versions and assumptions. The American authorities immediately classified the unusual phenomenon. It was only decades later that the Pentagon put an end to this sensational case by publishing a voluminous and lengthy report entitled "The Roswell Incident", which rather raised more questions than answered the existing ones.

A year later, back in 1948, aliens again visited America. This time, they made Kentucky happy with their appearance. A strange round object appeared in the sky. The planes were raised on alarm. And Captain Mantell, the flight commander, could not resist the temptation to try his luck to meet the mysterious alien face to face, rushed after the unknown with a bullet and disappeared from the ether. The wreckage of the plane and the remains of the unlucky captain were soon found. The authorities also classified the incident this time. And only ten years later they admitted that the "stranger" was a military meteorological probe, recognized by the pilots as a UFO.

However, the stories about encounters with extraterrestrial life forms did not end there. On the contrary, their number grew like a snowball every year. American astronauts could not resist the temptation to get into a kind of book of records for encounters with aliens. Some in all seriousness claimed that they had met foreign spaceships of enormous size on the moon. Others swore that they saw a UFO flying near the American ship, after which an oxygen tank exploded aboard the Apollo. Whose handiwork? Of course, aliens! Still others were generally “lucky”, they met on the Moon not only alien spaceships, but also the “green men” themselves in spacesuits. And again, the earthly public is intrigued: after all, these are the confessions of astronauts-eyewitnesses, and not the speculations of idle journalists or the fantasies of writers.

True, years later, one American astronaut, a “direct witness” of those unique “encounters”, admitted that he dreamed of a date on the moon with aliens … in his dream before the flight. It is clear that other "eyewitnesses" saw the same breathtaking dreams.

But the domestic cosmonauts were "less fortunate" than any flying alien creatures and devices during their wanderings through the endless space in the 38-year history of space exploration, they did not manage to meet.

Who benefits from spreading sensational stories about encounters with flying saucers, aliens from outer space? Why do the American authorities, possessing (if it, of course, have) unique information about contacts with alien civilizations, do not want to share it with specialists from other countries, assigning these documents the stamp of perfect secrecy for many decades?

It is definitely difficult to answer these questions. There are various versions. Each case, it seems, needs to be considered separately, taking into account the political situation in the world. It is possible that the increased secrecy was used by certain circles in the West to foment the Cold War. Another version of an attempt to hide one's own incompetence, not to shame, as they say, the honor of the uniform in terms of recognizing "alien" objects, which in fact turned out to be the result of the creation of human hands with all kinds of probes, balloons, unmanned aircraft and so on. Or perhaps justify in the eyes of the public the exorbitant expenditures allocated to the implementation of the corresponding expensive military projects.

And nevertheless, it would be wrong to consider the existence of unidentified, extraordinary phenomena in nature as the result of the wild imagination of journalists, writers and other "specialists" who are greedy for a cheap sensation. It is, of course, not about the alien "green men", the notorious flying saucers. The problem, as they say, is broader and deeper. The problem is scientific and requires a serious approach.

The fact is that people actually observed strange phenomena in various places on Earth. In this regard, the results, in scientific terms, of visual-radar observations, when UFOs could be observed simultaneously both in the sky and on radar screens, are remarkable. According to eyewitnesses, these phenomena were some formations, similar to metal, accompanied by the glow of air.

In the daytime, this glow is almost imperceptible. In a number of cases, eyewitnesses observed the appearance of an orange cloud, which, according to experts, represents the formation of nitrogen dioxide in the ionized plasma layer bordering the air.

Such UFOs, in particular, were registered twice in July 1952 at the Washington airport, in August 1956 near the British airbases Bentwaters and Lakenheath, on November 30, 1973 at the airport of Turin (Italy), in September 1976 at Shah Rocky airbase near Teeran …

These amazing phenomena and our country did not pass by. For example, on October 28, 1989, the impact of a UFO on the radar stations of the Irkutsk airport was so strong that it was necessary to change the routes of some passenger aircraft. In various years, the radars of the Kharkiv airport and departmental radar stations of Nizhny Novgorod also repeatedly detected the presence of uninvited guests.

But, perhaps, the most attractive place for UFOs on the territory of the former Soviet Union can be considered the Borisoglebsk area, where, according to official data, hundreds of strange phenomena were recorded from 1974 to 1989. Here are just a few examples.

On August 9, 1974, technical personnel serving military training aircraft observed the movement of an unknown object in the form of a white ball, which left a blue-green trail. But the most surprising thing is that the radars did not react in any way to the appearance of an alien, the trail of which disappeared from the sky an hour after the flight.

Exactly one month later, a black cloud suddenly appeared over the Povorino airfield, and on the radar stations of the all-round view, two flares resembling marks from aircraft (there were no aircraft in the sky at the moment). It was established that the observed object is at an altitude of 7000 meters. In the area of the airport in the ranges of medium and long waves, strong interference was recorded, and telephone communications did not work well. As soon as the plane triggered by alarm was inside the UFO, inexplicable metamorphoses immediately began to occur with it: a siren howled in the headphones of the headsets, the sound power of which exceeded the pain threshold. In addition, the banner "Dangerous Height" lit up, and the plane was shaken by a strong turbulence. The pilots were forced to turn off the engines. When the plane left the cloud, the turbulence immediately stopped. After turning on the power, the devices started workingExperts who have thoroughly examined the aircraft found no problems.

However, meetings with the unknown were not always harmless. It was in October 1981 in the Kaliningrad region. A military aircraft approaching landing unexpectedly collided with a five-meter fire-red ball, inside which was a brownish core with red veins. After no more than three seconds, the UFO disappeared without a trace.

The pilot himself then experienced not the most pleasant moments in his life. The engine suddenly began to malfunction, and after the disappearance of the object, a pop was heard, a burning smell appeared, although the "fire" emergency display did not flash. Repeated attempts to increase speed were unsuccessful.

Despite the transience of what is happening, the alien left a mark not only in the memory of the pilot, but also on the plane. A special commission, having examined the Su-32, discovered the destruction of the radio transparent fairing at the tip of the keel, a blown fuse in the automatic registration of flight parameters ("black box"). Unfortunately, it was not possible to record what happened.

It is clear that the Armed Forces have also become interested in numerous contacts with unidentified flying objects. What is the nature of these phenomena? How do they affect human health, the functioning of equipment? How can they affect the combat effectiveness of the Armed Forces ??

To answer these and many other questions, since 1978 at the 22nd Research Center in Mytishchi near Moscow, work has begun on the study of anomalous aerospace phenomena. The center became the parent organization. This received information from similar structures of the Armed Forces. All in all, over a ten-year work (1980 1990), the SIC has collected a solid database that allows you to recreate a picture of some incidents in the smallest detail, and scientists can draw some conclusions about the nature of these phenomena.

They are practically the same type, says Colonel Alexander Plaksin, a leading scientific expert of the RF Ministry of Defense on the problem of anomalous phenomena, Candidate of Technical Sciences. - All of them appear suddenly and also suddenly disappear.

It is possible that the UFOs observed in the atmosphere, according to Aleksandr Aleksandrovich, are stable plasma formations of various densities, similar to ball lightning invisible during the day and glowing at night. Interference appearing on the radar screens, the scientist believes, may arise due to turbulent phenomena in the troposphere, massive concentrations of birds and insects ("angels"). It was also noted that the number of "angels" increases in the morning, and from November to February the area of observation decreases. However, it is impossible to speak unequivocally about the nature of UFOs today.

Interaction with scientists from other countries, who have repeatedly offered to establish contacts with our military colleagues, could get closer to solving the secrets of anomalous aerospace phenomena. But "for reasons of secrecy" …

It is likely that today Russian scientists could learn more about these unique natural phenomena. So, at the end of the 70s, a spectrophotometer was created, which makes it possible to obtain spectra of any radiation, including in the visible range, at high altitudes, in the ionosphere (up to 200 kilometers). However, it is not yet possible to use it to study UFOs for both objective and subjective reasons.

As for the influence of these phenomena on human health, it is, according to Colonel Alexander Plaksin, minimal and is expressed mainly in psychological impact - it worries pilots during flights. But the military specialist is convinced that these objects are unlikely to influence the degree of combat effectiveness of the Armed Forces as a whole.
