American data visualization specialist Neil Halloran has published the short film The Shadow Peace, which estimates the number of casualties from nuclear war. The consequences of the total use of atomic weapons were published by him on YouTube.
The film begins with the release of demographic data. The author of the video explains how many people were born and died on Earth in the entire history of mankind, including during the two world wars.
To calculate the number of victims of the Third World War, Neil Halloran extrapolated the number of victims from atomic bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki to the number and yield of nuclear warheads of the United States, Russia and other countries. In his opinion, in the event of an exchange of nuclear strikes on Earth, about 500 million people will die in the first weeks.
The author of the short film does not undertake to name the number of other victims of atomic bombings - from radiation sickness, hunger and climate change on the planet.
At the end of the video, Halloran raises the problem of banning the proliferation of nuclear weapons, calls for general disarmament, and also evaluates the effectiveness of existing peacekeeping initiatives, reports RG Force.
