The Russian defense industry has offered the Ministry of Defense a rational version of the missile defense system, which will close all of Russia with an anti-missile dome. This was announced by Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin.
“The interdepartmental working group on the creation of the technical basis of Russia's aerospace defense stated that industry and military science managed to offer the Ministry of Defense a rational option for the prompt restoration of the country's anti-missile shield, including the ground and space echelon, and that with the completion of the deployment of the Unified Space System of Russia, the anti-missile defense system will be a dome,”he said.
Earlier, the commander of the Space Forces (KV), Lieutenant General Alexander Golovko, said that the new generation Voronezh-DM radar station (radar) deployed in the Krasnoyarsk Territory will take up combat duty until the end of 2017. This radar, capable of guaranteed detection of ballistic and hypersonic targets at ranges of up to six thousand kilometers, was delivered to the OBD at the end of last year.
Since that time, the operation of the radar has been jointly provided by the officers on duty of the KV of the Aerospace Forces (VKS) and representatives of industry. After being put on alert, the radar will be fully transferred to the balance of the Aerospace Forces.
During the OBD, the station's calculations recorded six launches of intercontinental ballistic missiles. The area of responsibility is the northeastern part of the Pacific Ocean and the northern direction.
Radar VZG "Voronezh-DM", created in the Krasnoyarsk Territory, is part of the Missile Attack Warning System (SPRN). It, in particular, works in the interests of information support for the solution of anti-missile defense (ABM) tasks, and increasing the effectiveness of response actions of the national Armed Forces.
The Russian Ministry of Defense notes that the construction of a network of radars created using the VZG technology is being carried out in order to improve the capabilities of an early warning system in the territory of the Russian Federation. Radars of the new generation have higher technical and tactical characteristics. The creation of a network of new high-tech VZG radars allows to increase the capabilities of the domestic early warning system in the shortest possible time and ensure continuous radar control of all missile-hazardous directions from the territory of Russia.
