Researchers made their way to Antarctica starting from the 16th century, but the cold earth did not allow them to come close. Its official opening took place on January 27, 1820. And they started talking about the mysteries of the ice continent in the 20th century. True, it is not yet possible to confirm or disprove them reliably. One of the most popular myths is that on the southernmost point of the Earth there is a secret base called "New Swabia", it is also "base 211", it is also a secret Nazi state, which, according to some, appeared after the fall of the Third Reich.

According to the stories of one of the participants in the development of Antarctica, oases with warm lakes, open cavities that hid the ruins of an ancient unknown city were found there. And also a system of caves, interconnected and possibly habitable.
Allegedly, on the orders of Hitler, a flotilla of submarines was sent there to develop the "new land" and extract rare earth ore. There is a version that it was “New Swabia” that became the source of minerals, thanks to which the Third Reich held out for so long in the war. They say, starting from the end of the 30s, submarines were sent there, loaded with everything necessary to make the base suitable for life, and back they were carrying rare earth metals and other natural resources.

They assure that it was at the South Pole that the Nazis developed a project for many years that aroused the interest of mystics and some scientists "flying discs" (read: "saucers"), which still soar into the sky from here, and there is photographic evidence of this.
According to quite incredible rumors, in 1945, Hitler was transported to the underground city on a submarine along with Eva Braun, and there the Fuhrer died either in 1971, or lived right up to 1985.

The first to talk about the secret base is considered to be the German writer and research enthusiast Hans-Ulrich von Kranz. According to him, in Argentina, he found a former SS man and scientist Olaf Weizsacker. He assured that he had been to "New Swabia" twice - in 1938 as a scientist, with a research mission, and in 1945, when the highest German officials who were fleeing were secretly sent there. Based on Weizsacker's stories and his research, von Krantz published the book "The Swastika in the Ice".

In 1947, an American squadron of 14 ships landed on the shores of Antarctica, and planes and helicopters descended from the sky. Five thousand people took part in the operation called "High Jump". In 1958, an expedition from the Soviet Union went to the South Pole. It was very difficult: people were dying, two planes were completely washed away. Subsequently, the son of the scientist Arkady Nikolaev, who reached the pole of inaccessibility of Antarctica in 1958, said that the purpose of the expedition, in which huge funds were invested, most likely, was not only (or not so much) reaching the pole. A secret decree was issued “from above”: to find traces of “New Swabia” - or to make sure that it is not there.
In 1973, the crew of Jacques-Yves Cousteau on the ship "Calypso" visited the Land of Queen Maud to get to the exciting minds of scientists of ice caves and their possible inhabitants. And again a failure: several people died in the mine explosion, some more people simply disappeared, recovering in search of the secret base 211.
What is interesting: according to historian Vadim Telitsyn, radar stations of the US Air Force, Chile and Argentina still record some "flying discs" plying over Antarctica.

In June 2017, a radio amateur and ufologist from Nizhny Tagil, Valentin Degterev, studying Google images of the southernmost point of the earth, said that he, presumably, had discovered a secret Nazi bunker there. The object measuring 60x20 meters, according to the researcher, is completely uncharacteristic for this area, and it is here that the entrance to the underground city is hidden, where the Nazis sent scientists, equipment, huge supplies of food and even more than 10 thousand concentration camp prisoners.

In the same month, a strange UFO - a gray ball - was recorded over the German station Neumayer III in Antarctica. And in May, a former US intelligence officer, Corey Goode, said that the Antarctic ice sheet hides not even the Nazi base - but the ancient giants, possibly from that very mythical Atlantis, or maybe the people of a civilization unknown to mankind that came from another planet. Goode warns that the melting of the glaciers could wake up the humanoid giants who will threaten the earthlings.
