Parapsychology is a science that accumulates, systematizes and analyzes information about paradoxical biophysical phenomena (Psi-phenomena), the mechanisms of implementation of which are directly or indirectly related to the mental processes of a person or other living beings, as well as carrying out their various experimental research in order to identify the physical mechanisms of their implementation and the development of methods for teaching people the practical use of Psi phenomena.

Historically, parapsychology arose as a result of a rational scientific rethinking of the occult-mystical heritage of mankind (which is a kind of pro-scientific knowledge), as well as various phenomena traditionally considered as inexplicable cases, in any way generated or associated with the human psyche and, sometimes, with the psyche of animals … Unfortunately, parapsychology has not yet acquired the status of an "official science", since for a long time it has not been possible to form a theoretical basis for parapsychology, which makes it possible to reliably explain and effectively investigate the nature of Psi phenomena, and also since most scientists are not yet informed about the phenomenology of Psi phenomena and the results of parapsychological research. In fact, parapsychology is still largely a science only by the declaration of intentions, and not according to the real state of affairs. The lack of public availability of information about the accumulated experience of phenomenological observations and experimental research, as well as the theoretical explanation of the nature of Psi phenomena accepted by most parapsychologists, has led to the fact that parapsychology is still a science of individuals who do not have a unanimous opinion about the interpretation of the nature of Psi phenomena, as well as and even about the very phenomenology of Psi-phenomena. However, at present this situation is gradually beginning to change for the better.disagreeing about the interpretation of the nature of Psi-phenomena, and about even the very phenomenology of Psi-phenomena. However, at present this situation is gradually beginning to change for the better.disagreeing both about the interpretation of the nature of Psi-phenomena, and about even the very phenomenology of Psi-phenomena. However, at present this situation is gradually beginning to change for the better.

A long period of unsuccessful attempts to achieve a scientific understanding of the nature of Psi-phenomena, as well as a huge number of errors, deliberate falsifications, speculation and fraud associated with parapsychological topics, caused such a persistent negative attitude towards it by most scientists that it can only be destroyed when Psi-phenomena become part of everyday human life. One of the main tasks of this site is to help bring this time closer.

Also, the psychological rejection of parapsychological topics on the part of most scientists and, on the other hand, the desire of Psi practitioners to look more solid in the eyes of clients, led to the fact that in Russia the term "parapsychologist" itself began to be associated in an absolutely false sense as the name of all who has to do with psychic practice or occultism and not with the scientific study of parapsychology. This is a blatant scientific ignorance, since in the word formation of scientific terminology the prefix "-logy" (from the gr. Logos) means a kind of scientific discipline. Therefore, the terms “parapsychology” and “parapsychologist” cannot be understood otherwise than a specific scientific discipline and a scientist studying it (which makes the generally accepted level of requirements in science for the results of his activity). Taking this into account, only scientific specialists who are well aware of the phenomenology, methods of implementation and experience of scientific research of Psi-phenomena, as well as having scientifically significant results of their activities in the form of publications in thematic scientific journals, can be called parapsychologists. Currently, only a few people around the world meet these strict requirements.
