This young man in a strange outfit and it is not clear where he came from in 1950 in New York and was immediately hit by a car, which created certain difficulties in identifying the victim.
It turned out to be really difficult to identify it, since only a business card with his place of residence was found in the pocket of the downed man (but at this address the police found only a commercial store, where the deceased had not even been heard), a beer token from a bar that no one in New -Yorke had no idea, a letter dated 1876 (!), And a few outdated dollar bills. True, all these obviously antiques for some reason looked like new.
The police still identified the victim, with difficulty, but found the elderly widow of Fenz Jr., who reported that her husband's father, Rudolf Fenz, had actually disappeared in 1876 at the age of twenty-nine, and was never seen again.

It seems increasingly clear that another case of a person's movement in time has been recorded, since there are already a lot of such documentary facts. Suffice it to recall the Italian ghost train that disappeared on June 14, 1911, when the traces of its passengers were found in 1845 in Mexico (unfortunately for these unfortunate time travelers, in a mental hospital). Naturally, the story of Rudolf Fenz in the fifties of the last century flew around many print publications, the media returned to it more than once, and in subsequent years - it is still a bright and convincing case.

However, there was a certain Chris Aubek, and then Pastor George Murphy (in fact, both incorrigible skeptics), who doubted the veracity of this story, and in 2002 Murphy even made a public disclosure of Rudolf Fenz as a time traveler. According to him, the author of the story about him was science fiction writer Jack Finney. In the short story "I'm afraid" invented by him, the corresponding, which caused so much noise, the case of Rudolf Fenz, who turned out to be only a literary hero of a fantastic work, is described.
However, even among the scientists who firmly believed in the possibility of time travel, there are real bison in their field, who can find evidence and irrefutable data. Among them was a researcher working in the Berlin news archive. In 2007, he found a note, dated April 1951, about the time traveler Rudolf Fenz. Moreover, the article lists the names, addresses and testimonies of people confirming that this young man, aged twenty-nine, disappeared in 1876. Jack Finney's story "I'm afraid" appeared only six months after the publication of this note, that is, in October 1951. It turns out that the writer just used a real fact for his fantastic work.
Why are there so few time travelers
And here's what's interesting: even today, such facts can only be printed in fantastic works, otherwise the writer's work will simply not be accepted for publication. And we still put travelers in time and space in psychiatric hospitals, if not to say about a more terrible phenomenon - they disappear into closed institutions of the special services, and what these barbarians do with them, God only knows.
