A Briton with a mental disorder tried to shoot himself, but the shot did not kill him, but cured the disorder.

In 1983, Briton George was 19 years old. The young man suffered from obsessive-compulsive personality disorder, which, among other things, was expressed in the fact that he took a shower too often and washed his hands several hundred times a day. George tried many treatments, but none of them worked. Due to his mental problems, the guy was forced to leave school and could not find a job.

During another quarrel, his mother told George in her hearts: “Your life is worthless. You can just go and shoot yourself. The guy took her words as a guide to action - he took a 22-gauge (5.6 mm) pistol, went down to the basement and shot himself in the mouth. Incredibly, the wound was not fatal - George was taken to the hospital, where the doctors provided him with the necessary help.

The surgeons removed the bullet, which, as it turned out, almost completely destroyed the left frontal lobe of George's brain, and the young man began to recover.

When he recovered, he found that the painful craving for constant hand washing and showering had disappeared, although there were no other signs of brain damage: his IQ remained at the same level, and all symptoms of mental disorder were gone. After such a miraculous deliverance from the disease, George entered college and successfully graduated from it.
