Mirages are a well-known phenomenon in science and, from a physical point of view, quite explainable, but still surprising and attracting the attention of people who were lucky enough to become casual witnesses. There are also hypotheses about the possibility of the appearance of the so-called "chronomirages", demonstrating objects that do not exist at present. However, it is very difficult to prove the anomalous nature in a specific case of the manifestation of this natural phenomenon. Another reason to think about this topic presented itself thanks to the news that came from Bashkiria.
In early December 2013, a mirage of an unknown city appeared in the Burzyansky district against the background of local mountains. Unfortunately, the exact date was not announced by local media. Only the observation time was reported - about 11.30 local time. It is known from the weather conditions that the day was clear, the sky was clear. There is also no mention of specific locations from which the mirage was observed.
The television report said that a "ghost town" was observed near the village of Starosubkhangulovo, the administrative center of Burzyanskiy district. The publication of the newspaper "Republic of Bashkortostan" mentions Mount Akbiek, over which a mirage was observed. Hence, it can be assumed that eyewitnesses were observing from the section of the route between the settlements of Galiakberovo and Novomusyatovo.
The case in Bashkiria is notable for the fact that there were enough mirage witnesses to speak of a mass observation. Several cars stopped on the road, the passengers of which, noticing something strange on the horizon, observed and even photographed the unusual phenomenon. Of the specific names, the following are known: Darigat Yamalov, librarian Farida Aitbaeva, deputy. Tansylu Bagautdinov, editor of the local regional newspaper "Tan". It is reported that several dozen photographs were taken by eyewitnesses, of which only one has become public knowledge.
According to Darigat Yamalov, who watched the mirage with friends, the horizon was completely blue-green, a biplane was clearly visible in the sky, and later houses began to appear. Darigat also talked about streets without traffic lights, windows in houses, a building like a mosque.
Tansylu Bagautdinova, who stopped her car near them, described the phenomenon in more detail:
Certain metamorphoses also occurred with the appearance of the mountains. The observation lasted quite a long time. But how it all ended is also unknown.
We can say that the observation of a mirage of an unknown city in Burzyansky district is a rather unique case for Russia in terms of the number of clearly known eyewitnesses, documentary evidence (photographs) and the possibility of conducting a specific study of it. At least within the framework of gaining experience in studying the alleged "chronomirages".
