The past of Hampton Castle is closely intertwined with the name of one of the most ruthless female murderers - the monarch Henry VIII. This bloodthirsty villain first dissolved his marriage with his first wife Catherine of Aragon, remarrying young Anne Boleyn, from whose ghost the sentry in the Tower fainted, and then accused Anna of adultery and executed.
Then the king of England tied the knot of Hymen for the third time by marrying Jane Seymour, but she died in childbirth. Her death did not stop the monarch, and another wife, Catherine Howard, quickly bored him, and was also executed by order of Henry. The ghosts of the wives ruined by the monarch still roam Hampton Castle to this day. In one of the halls of the palace there is a portrait of Anne Boleyn. At the time when the day of her death converges with the full moon, there are witnesses that the figure in the picture disappears, and weak moans and female crying begin to be heard in the palace. The workers of the castle and the faithful wife of the king Jane Seymour have seen more than once. In particular, Jane appeared before some of the palace attendants in the fall of 1970. A woman in a long white robe wandered around the stone-paved courtyard. The ghost held an imaginary candlethe flame of which illuminated only Jane's body, but did not illuminate the objects located around. The queen reached the palace wall and then disappeared into thin air.
The ghost of Catherine Howard can be seen in the long hallways of the palace. In the very place where the guards seized her, and then found guilty of adultery. One day, the ghost of Catherine appeared in front of two women. The ghost terribly frightened both tourists, because of which they fainted.
