As you know, any sufficiently old castle always has ghostly "inhabitants". The Moscow Kremlin, which is one of the oldest castles in Europe, is no exception.

Moreover, it has a very stormy, bloody and mystical history: during the numerous assaults of the Kremlin, devastating fires, in uprisings and civil strife, many people died here.

Not to mention the fact that once there was a torture chamber in one of the towers, and Red Square served as a place of executions. And, of course, a lot of otherworldly mysticism is added both by the famous Necropolis at the Kremlin Wall and its "center" - Lenin's Mausoleum.

It is not surprising that the residents of the Kremlin and its temporary visitors regularly saw (and see) the shadows of the past on its territory and in the premises. Otherwise, something strange and incomprehensible is happening. For example, in the evenings, cleaning women in empty offices regularly hear intimidating voices and tapping. It happens that in rooms vases fall and break by themselves, locks in doors break, and brown spots resembling blood appear on carpets.

True, according to old-timers, the ghosts themselves appear much less often and more reluctantly than in previous years. However, with a certain amount of luck, you can still see them with your own eyes.

Tsar Ivan the Terrible is considered the oldest and, perhaps, the most famous ghost of the Kremlin. Most often it is seen on the lower tiers of the Ivan the Great Bell Tower - a vague shadow emitting barely audible steps.

By the way, there are memories of Nicholas II that before the coronation the ghost of Ivan Vasilyevich appeared to him and his wife, Empress Alexandra Feodorovna. The next day after that, the Khodynskaya tragedy happened, which marked the beginning of the collapse of the Romanov dynasty.

Since then, a belief has appeared: the ghost of Ivan the Terrible comes to warn of some kind of disaster. Therefore, in recent years, they see him infrequently.

From time to time, Vladimir Lenin appears on the inner territory of the Kremlin at night, who has become a regular at the ancient Moscow citadel since 1923 - it was then that he was first seen as a phantom. Especially often the ghost of the leader of the proletariat loves to visit his former office in the Kremlin, which now houses the museum.

On the wall and in the Commandant's Tower is a pale woman with a pistol in her hand. This is Fanny Kaplan, who was personally shot by the then Kremlin commandant Malkov. According to the official version, it was she who shot at Lenin with poisonous bullets. Demyan Bedny was present at the execution.

In the corridors of the Kremlin Palace (formerly called the "Kremlin Palace of Congresses") one sees shadows in shrouds. There was a cemetery, on the site of which the palace was built. The remains were loaded by excavators directly into trucks and transported directly to the landfill. Well, a question for the residents of the new districts: "Where do you think these landfills were located, and what is now under your houses?"

At night in the Assumption Cathedral, children can be heard crying. As the reason, they call the souls of the killed babies sacrificed to the pagan gods in the temple, which was once located on the site of the temple.

The shadow of False Dmitry appears on the Kremlin wall. Was spotted in August 1991. The failed king gestured. The meaning of these signals became clear only the next morning, when the GKChP appeal was made.

The ghost of the Stalinist People's Commissar Yezhov in a long-length overcoat and a high cap is seen in the Patriarch's Chambers, where the apartment of the head of the NKVD was located.

There is evidence from Kremlin cadets that a dark spot appears on the wall of the Konstantino-Yeleninskaya tower, similar to real blood. The spot appeared at night and moved to the floor. By morning it had completely sunk into the floor. In the 17th century, a torture chamber was located here.

They say that the owners of the neighboring offices - the officials of the presidential administration - try not to stay late at work, since someone’s footsteps are heard from the museum closer to midnight.
