A rather strange incident happened the other day in Detroit, Michigan. The son stole the body of his deceased father in order to perform the prayer of resurrection over him.

Detroit police found the body of a 93-year-old man inside a freezer in the basement of his son's home. The body was recovered after investigators concluded that the man's remains were stolen by his son from a Detroit cemetery.

The deceased was Clarence Bright. His 48-year-old son reportedly told family members that he stole his father's body from the Gethsemane cemetery on the east side of the city on Monday morning in order to resurrect him through prayer.

The son was taken into custody Tuesday morning along with a 38-year-old man after officers discovered that the men were moving through the eastern part of the city in a white van with an empty coffin inside. The police did not find the body of the deceased. Family members who arrived at the house where Bright Jr. lived declined to comment on the incident, saying that this is a family matter and the situation is currently very tense.

Bright's funeral took place on Saturday, but his body was in a cemetery mausoleum because the ground was too wet for burial, investigators say. Bright's son spoke strangely at the funeral, said Bright's son's neighbor. She said that she had known him for about five years, since they lived with him in the same house. The woman was not personally acquainted with Bright Sr., but attended the funeral out of respect for her son.

“At the funeral, he said: 'You can consider me great, you all will soon recognize my greatness. When you see what I will do, you will understand everything. Everyone has heard this, including family members, of course. No one could have imagined that he was going to do something like that,”- said Coleman.

Witnesses saw a white van drive away from the mausoleum shortly before the coffin and the body in it disappeared on Monday morning. Representatives of the Gethsemane cemetery refuse to comment on the incident.
