We rejoice at every rocket launched. To every satellite. But in vain! Swedish astrophysicists have proved that any spacecraft is a mortal threat to humanity.

Child with ulcers

About a year ago, a woman who was 8 months pregnant was brought to the Karolinska shukhus hospital in Stockholm. She was bleeding profusely, but when the child was removed from the womb with the help of a cesarean, the doctors were shocked: he was also bleeding. The tiny body was strewn with deep erosion, ulcers. It was not possible to pump out the child. The autopsy completely baffled the doctors: it was unclear how the fetus could develop in the womb at all? All vital organs were affected! The case was heard by the Department of Health.

It turned out: "bloody baby" - a rare pathology for Scandinavia! But other countries already have their own sad statistics. The same bloody symptoms - ulcers and erosion, were observed in people who, for some reason, were in the dark for a long time. And their analyzes showed the same lack of vital vitamin D in the blood (it is determined by the level of the pre-hormone calcidiol). But why?

Let there be light

Our correspondents phoned the head of the experimental laboratory in Malmo (Sweden) Ragnar Svenson and found out shocking details.

- Mr. Swenson, the lack of vitamin D is easily explained by the lack of solar insolation, as in the victims of darkness. But the mother of the deceased child led a normal life …

- Apparently, she not only lacked sunlight, but a certain ultraviolet spectrum.

- Explain.

- Ultraviolet, as you know, saturates the body with vitamin D. But, in turn, ultraviolet rays are divided into a spectrum of A, B and C. The most dangerous are C rays (wavelength less than 290 nm), which are fatal to all living things, fortunately, not reach the Earth: they are neutralized by the ozone layer of the atmosphere. But the rays A and B (wavelength 320-400 nm) penetrate freely. Especially A. They make up 95% of the ultraviolet radiation. Immunity, metabolic processes, growth, sexual function - everything depends on the stimulation of the body by these waves. Otherwise, immunity fails, the person becomes covered with bleeding wounds. A colleague of mine, American physiologist Michael Dornty of the Einstein College of Medicine, has shown that people with low blood levels of vitamin D are 46% more likely to develop cancer or die from sudden cardiac arrest.

Trash, trash, you are powerful

Anticipating further conclusions of scientists, we note: in the laboratory of Malmo, a situation was artificially simulated when the rays A and B of the ultraviolet spectrum, crashing into an artificially created barrier, did not reach the "Earth" (experiments were carried out on mice). And what? After a few days, the subjects began to lose hair, and the skin became covered with sores. After another couple of days, all the animals died. It was then that physicians and astrophysicists began to think: what prevents the passage of ultraviolet rays in natural conditions?

It turned out - an important part of the ultraviolet spectrum is simply stuck in … garbage! Naturally, we are talking about space debris.

From the dossier

Space debris - artificial satellites, spacecraft and their fragments during uncontrolled de-orbiting.

“Just imagine,” Svenson continues, “according to NASA, there is so much debris in orbit that its quantity, according to the law of dialectics, turns into a new quality. Even if we stop launching ships, then by 2050 the number of debris in orbit will exceed the number burned up in the planet's atmosphere. This is a huge trash heap!

Crocodile Sun swallowed

In January 2005, the US space tracking network recorded a collision of a stage of an American Thor rocket, launched 31 years ago, with an element of the Chinese CZ-4 launch vehicle. Astrophysicists are seriously worried: a dense ring of space debris will put an end to safe flights. There were even reports in the media: more than 5,000 tons of man-made objects are already rotating in the earth's orbit. And in 20 years their number will grow 17 (!) Times. Moreover, over the years, the garbage ring will grow, thicken, forming a cocoon, and shield the Sun from the Earth. This will be an obstacle to ultraviolet radiation.

- While not everyone feels its lack, - says the Russian colleague of Ragnar Svenson, doctor of biological sciences, physiologist Dmitry Pustynnikov. - But over the years the cocoon will thicken, and then …

At the Institute of Immunology in Moscow, there is a 12-year-old Lelia Krasilnikova. She has a rare and terrible disease - no skin. Previously, the disease was considered a genetic malfunction associated with a chromosome mutation, and today it is included in the register of rare diseases caused by a lack of ultraviolet rays. But that's not all. Today, physicians and astrophysicists are calculating a different, more complex situation. Many are convinced that when the space debris "screen" becomes many times thicker, the spectrum A and B will not be able to reach the earth at all. Everything will happen, as in Chukovsky's terrible tale about a crocodile who swallowed the sun: people will die from a sharp decrease in immunity and incurable diseases, one of the consequences of which will be the birth of dead "bloody babies".
