Among the significant problems that the newest discoveries and studies of ancient myths have put before modern science is the mysterious civilization that developed about 10 thousand years ago in Antarctica. How did the "Antarctic civilization" hypothesis come about?
In 1929, Turkish archaeologist Hi-lil Eden found in the library of the former imperial palace of Tolkani (now a museum) half of the world map compiled by Piri Reis in 1513. Discussion of this map began only in 1957, when one of the specialists dealing with this issue - the American Arlington G. Mallory - announced that the southern part of the Piri Reis map shows the contours of Antarctica, incredible in their accuracy.
A miracle that has not yet received an explanation is the famous Piri Reis map, compiled in 1513. What are the sources for it? On the map - the coast of Antarctica, freed from the ice shell. Where did the Turkish admiral get this image from? Today, many parts of the coast are not visible visually, but are determined using special equipment. Try yourself to match this ancient map with a modern depiction of the sixth continent.
This discovery was confirmed by research and other specialists. The "legend" that surrounded the Piri Reis map began to grow. Since the map shows mountains currently hidden under millennial ice, it was easy to conclude that Piri Reis used a map, the prototype of which was created 10 thousand years ago in Antarctica, a highly developed civilization, but disappeared for unknown reasons, probably due to with a cooling climate. As soon as this hypothesis was formulated, it came under fierce attacks from some geographers who demanded "to separate reality from fiction."
However, the matter did not end there. American scientist Charles G. Hepgood has an interesting hypothesis. He found that a projection system based on spherical trigonometry illuminated Greek antiquity in a new way. The map shows the islands of Marajo and Falkland, discovered later, the Atrata River in Yucatan, unknown at that time, and the Andes mountains, which were not explored at that time. As far as Antarctica is concerned, its outlines correspond to the "profile" of the subglacial epoch, determined using the latest technology.
Studying other ancient maps, Hepgood made startling discoveries. So, on the map of Orontius Finney, created in 1531, there is a very accurate image of Antarctica, where there are not only mountains, but also rivers, the deposits of which were formed in a temperate climate, and their age is estimated at 6 thousand years. Another map, compiled by Andrea Benincasa, clearly shows the glaciers of Scandinavia within the boundaries in which they existed about 14 thousand years ago (according to modern geography). In connection with the glaciers, it is interesting to remember that ancient maps, for example, the map of Ptolemy of Alexandria, indicate glaciers in Scandinavia and in Germany. How can this riddle be solved? How can you explain that the outlines of Antarctica are rendered with such accuracy, and Europe is covered with ice? It was quite logical to conclude that we are talking about a civilization that developed 10 thousand years ago in Antarctica and then for some reason disappeared. Professor Hepgood put forward a theory according to which "the entire surface of the Earth moves evenly relative to the core in the direction towards the northern European and American hemispheres."
The civilization, which we will conditionally call "Antarctic", has reached a high degree of development in the field of mathematics, astronomy and geography. When she disappeared, all her knowledge passed to those peoples that we consider to be ancient; this transition took place either in the form of scientific truths allegedly spontaneously discovered by these peoples, or in the form of so-called parallel myths.
The mythology of peoples separated by great distances, parallel myths (the epic of Gilgamesh, the biblical tale of Noah) and the results of some scientific research in the field of climatology, hydrography and archeology - all this speaks in favor of the flood hypothesis.
Parallel myths of the Quiche Indians, the tribes of Mexico and Venezuela, the ancient Persians (in the Zend-Avesta), the ancient Indians (Riga-Veda) and the Egyptians (mentioned in Herodotus) argue that the flood was accompanied by other formidable phenomena, and above all by a sudden change in climate. Some myths say that "the sun, moon and stars rose once a year, and the whole year seemed like one day." As you know, nowhere on the globe, except for the polar regions, the Sun and the Moon rise only once a year.
Before the catastrophe, the memory of which has come down to us in the form of myths, the climate was warm. Then there was a cold snap. Where the land bore two crops a year, severe winters began. Such a sharp and unexpected climate change can be explained by the displacement of the earth's axis.
When did all this happen? The data of the exact sciences say that the phenomenon that we call the "flood" was long lasting. Freshwater algae and volcanic formations found at the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean are about 13 thousand years old. Niagara was also "born" 13 thousand years ago; around the same era, the sacred lake Titicaca and the port of Tiahuayacu rose to a height of 4 thousand meters. All these strange facts are clearly related to real movements of the earth's crust and were probably accompanied by volcanic eruptions.
Further data can be obtained from calendars in various parts of the world. Calculations show that they begin their calculation from some extremely important event that began in 11 652 BC and ended in 11 542, that is, lasted 110 years. All explanations that can be given to this fact remain in the field of hypotheses. Here is the one that seems to us the most acceptable.
The important "event" in question, which we consider to be a flood, took a long time to prepare. For many hundreds or even thousands of years, the Earth was approaching final catastrophe. The "introduction" to it were volcanic eruptions, which geology ascribes an age of about 13 thousand years. Then began a period of rains and more and more heavy snowfalls; the revelry of the blind forces of nature finally led to the end of this chain of catastrophes - the displacement of the earth's axis with all the ensuing consequences.
Note, by the way, that parallel myths also speak of a sharp climate change and the emergence of polar conditions. They clearly indicate that before the disaster, people lived in an area with a warm climate, which then turned to cold. And the only part of the world where the climate was at first warm, and then became polar, is Antarctica.
Dr. Yuri's research shows that river sediments in Antarctica formed over 6,000 years in a temperate climate. This means that the cooling took place gradually. When the cold became unbearable for the population accustomed to warmth, the "Antarctic" left their country. This seems all the more possible because “some Indian tribes still retain the legendary memory of their forced wanderings on the ice fields of the“frozen oceans”.
It can even be assumed that the "Antarctic" knew about the evolution of glaciers in the north, that is, in Europe and America, where by this time the warm waters of the Gulf Stream put an end to the ice age and where vast areas suitable for life and continuation began to be released (albeit for more low level) thousand-year Antarctic civilization. Those who survived the catastrophe took with them in order to save all the achievements of their science. They passed on their knowledge to the surrounding tribes, who considered them supernatural beings and ascribed divine origin to them. "Antarctica" completely assimilated with the surrounding primitive tribes …
Why did the disaster happen? It is difficult to imagine that the earth's axis changed its position suddenly. The American professor's theory is more plausible. It logically follows from it that the shift of the earth's surface to the south led to the same consequences as the displacement of the earth's axis: areas with a warm climate approached the pole and became colder, while the northern regions moved to the equator and warmed. Within the framework of large tectonic movements, a change in the inclination of the earth's axis is not excluded. what happened also gradually; but in the end this axis found a new position.
The cooling of the climate has led to the fact that the snow, which was at first an object of surprise for the "Antarctic", stopped melting and became "eternal", forcing the inhabitants of this country to leave. It is difficult to paint even a rough picture of this tragedy. After all, the very existence of these mysterious "Antarctics" is hypothetical, and we do not know anything about their organization, way of life, etc.
The decisive word in solving this great mystery belongs to archaeological research. Along with archeology, many other sciences can have their say to help us in the reconstruction of the first steps taken by humanity in its development.
