British astronomer Duncan Forgan said that the sun could be used to create a "galactic Internet."

The scientist is one of the researchers of exoplanets, and his theory is as follows: using the Sun, earthlings will be able to transmit signals into outer space, and thus communicate with civilizations from other planets.

Forgan even came up with two ways to get in touch with alien intelligence. One is similar to Morse code, only in a simpler form, and in order to transmit such coded messages to the inhabitants of other planets, it will be necessary to erect some large structures that will cover the Sun at the right time. And the second is a certain method of filling the absorption line of specific chemical elements with the help of a laser, which theoretically can also allow contact with other civilizations.

The scientist believes that the inhabitants of the Earth will be able to send signals into space during those periods when the planets pass across the disk of stars. True, even in the best scenario, the creation of such a "social network" covering all celestial bodies that are potentially suitable for life will take at least 300 thousand years. But signals can be exchanged even with the most distant worlds. This suggests that a very exciting and eventful future awaits us, the only pity is that human age cannot be counted in hundreds of thousands of years.

Of course, humanity will make a huge leap forward in its development if it finds a way to exchange information with other worlds. Duncan Forgan claims that there are at least 82 stars within a radius of three thousand light years from Earth, with characteristics similar to our Sun, and they are potentially ready to interact.

A theorist from the Harvard Center for Astrophysics, Avi Loeb, expressed doubts about the creation of such a large-scale orbital project, due to the fact that it is not just a colossal work, but because a civilization that has reached such a level, most likely, will not just stay on Earth, just sending space signals - she can leave her planet without any problems and move to other worlds.

Several years ago, astronomers from the University of Hawaii, led by John Lernd, concluded that various information signals could be transmitted through the stars. The researchers also suggested that this could be the beginning for drawing up a possible scheme of the galactic Internet, which could be used by advanced extraterrestrial civilizations with the necessary technologies.

Scientists have expressed the opinion that the stars of the Cepheid class may well claim the title of transmitting objects. The closest stars of this class are less than a thousand light years away from us, while others are as much as 60 million light years away from our planet. Cepheids have one characteristic difference from other stars - fluctuations in their brightness occur in a constant period, which lasts from 1.5 to 50 days. In order to be able to transmit information, scientists are going to shorten some periods of the star's cyclicality. Thus, it is possible to form a binary data stream, where a short cycle will mean "one", and a long one - "zero". Those who will receive the information sent will see this sequence of fluctuations and decipher the transmitted information.

To influence the cycle of the star in the direction of decreasing, astronomers want to use a stream of high-energy neutrinos. According to the current information of scientists, the accumulation of ionized helium in its atmosphere may become the reason for the decrease in the brightness of the star. A gradual increase in the amount of helium leads to an expansion of the atmosphere, deionization occurs, after which the brightness of the star increases again.

But the "Internet" based on such technologies also does not stand up to criticism - its speed is negligible: only 180 bits per year! That is, to send a message of 160 characters (the size of a standard SMS message), it will take about six years. In addition, to reproduce the flow of the required power, the most powerful energy is required, approximately equal to one millionth of the total energy of the star. Scientists will have to work hard on the development and improvement of technologies before humanity can try to establish contact with highly developed civilizations from other worlds. John Lernd also urges scientists not to abandon attempts to analyze the information obtained from the long-term practice of observing the Cepheids, perhaps they will still contain a "hidden message" that representatives of other civilizations could send for us.
