For several millennia, mankind has been trying to unravel the secrets of the disappeared civilization of Atlantis. Numerous descriptions of this island-state contained in the writings of ancient historians, legends and myths tell us about the unprecedented development of this civilization for its time, prompting us to create an incredible number of theories regarding its origin, right up to the foundation of an earth colony by aliens. Of course, the latter is hard to believe, and the very fact of the existence of Atlantis has not yet been proven, however, this does not prevent archaeologists and Atlantologists, from time to time, find new evidence of the existence of this ancient civilization and put forward theories as to where this island-state.

One of these theories connects Atlantis with ancient India. It appeared after the devastating tsunami that struck the Indian Ocean in December 2004. It was then that fishermen who were fishing in the Bay of Bengal noticed sculptures of lions and a stone bas-relief of an elephant of a coastal temple at the bottom of it. Subsequent archaeological surveys proved that we are talking about the ruins of a city that dates back to the era of the Pallavian kingdom that existed on the territory of modern India in the III-IX centuries. However, many people still perceive the found artifacts as evidence of the existence of Atlantis.

The discovery of the ruins of an ancient city off the southern shores of India, whose age was determined at about 9.5 thousand years, caused a considerable resonance in the scientific world. Prior to this, the age of the oldest city in India was determined by scientists at 5 thousand years and attributed to the period of the Indian civilization. In addition to the version that the find is the legendary Atlantis, the Indians themselves decided that it was about the no less legendary “Golden City” (Dwarka) - the place where the god Krishna lived.

By the way, in the "Rig Veda" and "Shatapatha Brahman" - the oldest monuments of Indian writing - there are references to the flood and the existence of the fish-god, whom many associate with the ancient Greek god Poseidon. The latter, according to the version of the existence and death of Atlantis, put forward by ancient historians, is the founder of Atlantis.
