What modern man seems to have completely forgotten. We strive to develop intelligence, thinking, creativity, certain qualities of character, but we are the last to worry about the needs of our natural "spacesuit". And then we wonder why the body so persistently reminds of itself …

Protective carapace

Man has come a long way of evolutionary development, and for millennia, questions of survival came to the fore. Surrounded by hungry and much stronger animals, ready to swallow a two-legged creature and not grimacing, in conditions of constant stress, it was necessary to form and develop response mechanisms. For example, escape or a sudden attack could save one from an unenviable fate. Or, on the contrary, freezing, stupor, imitating death.

The development of civilization and the improvement of weapons have long ago made the animal world a victim, and not an aggressor in relation to man, but our reactions to danger have remained the same. We may not notice, not fix it, but in unpleasant, potentially dangerous situations, our body is ready to react physically: either leave an unpleasant place as soon as possible, or fall into a stupor, or commit an act of aggression (by the way, often against ourselves, not the offender !). However, the laws of society do not encourage such wild reactions, humanistic attitudes require us to communicate skills, mercy and other virtues, and not swing an ax. We do not run anywhere, we do not aim at anyone - but the body prepares precisely for such movements! Tightens muscles, releases into the blood a huge amount of insulin, testosterone, increases or decreases the heart rate. And over time, foci of muscle tension are formed, which are called clamps, blocks, plugs. In an attempt to protect the nervous system, muscles form a kind of shell (a term by psychologist Wilhelm Reich). The carapace must be strong to withstand the pressure. The place of the block directly depends on the unlived, repressed emotion. Blood does not enter the spastic muscle, waste products are not excreted, and nearby muscles also suffer. Anatomy of pain

In addition to stressful situations and psychological trauma, the cause of the formation of clamps can be motor habits, attempts to adapt to the requirements of society or its individual representatives in the person of parents, grandparents, teachers and other significant figures.

However, even here our wise body gives its hints, reflecting the places of accumulation of negative and unexpressed emotions. Reich, for example, believed that suppressed tears lead to the formation of facial clamps (usually in the area of the eye muscles). Have you noticed nervous tics? Shoulder pains reflect overstrain from everyday difficulties and overwhelming responsibilities, and in the neck - fears and suppressed self-expression, inability / inability to be oneself, difficulties in communication. This is where the trust issues are.

We go down below. In the upper part of the back, next to the heart, sorrows, sorrows, longing from losses and disappointed hopes accumulate. Pain and tension in the middle of the back indicate self-doubt, lack of support from significant people. Feelings of guilt, shame, self-inferiority, as well as sexual trauma were concentrated in the lower back. Tightness, pain in the stomach indicate problems in the emotional sphere in general: it is difficult for a person to cope with any experiences, including positive ones. Doesn't know how to express feelings, to live them fully. Pay attention to the expressions that illustrate this: "You make me sick!", "I cannot digest you!"

Sociophobia, distrust of the world and others are located on the inner side of the thighs, which betrays a readiness for instant flight. Irritability and dissatisfaction with oneself, the feeling of a "driven horse" with a tense rhythm of life is reflected on the outside of the thighs. The suppression of anger and rage accumulates in the buttocks: it is not for nothing that the people have an expression "like a burr in …", which conveys the essence of the phenomenon as accurately as possible. The next time you lock in suppressed anger, try to figure out exactly where your muscle tension has accumulated? By chance, not in the fifth point?

Be human

What to do if you have been suffering from aching dull pain for quite a long time, or you feel muscle spasm in a certain place? Before you seriously take care of yourself, start solving internal problems, we suggest taking some actions that will help to cope with unpleasant sensations.

First, allow yourself to feel, experience full emotions. Remember your fears, resentments, disappointments. Try to find analogies between your present states and the past. Surely they will have something in common, or at least similar. Now release your emotions. This can be done alone - for example, pounding a pillow to vent your anger, crying rude remarks addressed to you, or shouting to your heart's content. Do what you wanted but couldn't afford!

Another effective technique is describing emotions. Without evaluation, without an attempt to trace the cause-and-effect relationship - only a statement. Take a piece of paper and write down how you feel: "I am upset", "I am angry", "I am disappointed", "I am happy." Do not be surprised: you also need to be able to rejoice, admire, love, and some of us have to learn this.

Thirdly, finally take the side of yourself, your beloved! Scolding yourself for emotions (any!), For betraying the body, you only intensify the negative state. Treat yourself as a baby, think of yourself as … a little mammoth from a kind cartoon or any other character, a real person who makes you feel good, perhaps even tenderness.

Simple moves

Let's move on to the movements. The first thing to remember when a block or shell appears is to loosen the clamp. Body-oriented practices, which are usually done in groups, are best. But there are some things you can do yourself.

So, make it a rule to lower your shoulders. You can't even imagine how many people are moving along the city streets with their shoulders raised! Then their backs and neck hurt … But you just need to think about your shoulders and lower them down. Let's agree: as soon as you remember that you have shoulders, you will lower them. Try to do this at least five times a day (if you are too forgetful or have an incredibly stressful rhythm of life, set yourself sound reminders).

You can try combining a deep abdominal inhalation with lifting the shoulders up and back. When the shoulders reach their maximum superior-posterior abduction, begin to exhale. The slower the exercise, the better!

A variant of this exercise is perfect for relaxing the neck - only the elbows will rise, and the fingers should easily touch the shoulders.

Breathing, meditative practices with diaphragmatic breathing are very good as relaxing agents. Place one palm on your chest and the other on your diaphragm (slightly below your solar plexus). When inhaling through the nose, you observe the lower palm, which, together with the diaphragm, moves forward. And then, slowly exhaling air through the lip tube, you will see the palm disappear from the field of view.

Wellness swimming is ideal for relieving muscle blocks, since water has a beneficial effect on the body in general and on the muscles in particular. The massage course will significantly compensate for the lack of blood supply in the muscles, restore motor functions. Considering that one of the most common emotions is anger, you can suggest practicing with a punching bag or getting yourself sheets of anger that are manipulated in the corresponding states.

Any sign of attention to yourself will be positively perceived by the body and psyche. There are many options. Perhaps you can come up with your own. Most importantly, remember: in the beginning there was a body. So pay attention to it!
