On March 5, 2019, Southern California faced a fairly rare natural phenomenon - numerous lightning strikes, which merged into a continuous light storm that continues to this day.
At the moment, the light storm continues, capturing both the dark and daylight hours. The number of lightning strikes is tens of thousands. For example, the National Weather Service (NWS) recorded 1489 lightning impulses along the California coast for 5 minutes. This is how it looked from space:

The reasons for this situation are not disclosed to the NWS. Lightning is common in California at this time of the year, but with such frequency, often without rain and in such quantity, it is already an exceptional rarity.
Perhaps this was a consequence of global climate change or is somehow related to an attempt to manage precipitation.
Perhaps, although not necessarily, this light storm is a harbinger of an earthquake.
It is also possible that the light storm is associated with atmospheric currents over the west coast of the United States. In this case, California, in addition to melting snow, will face very large, unforeseen precipitation. And this despite the fact that according to a February study by the US Army Corps of Engineers, most of the dams and dams in the state are under threat due to old age, late spring and, as a result, large volumes of melting snow. If a storm joins them, it can cause a completely unpredictable course of events.
