Land occupies less than 30% of the surface of our planet. Everything else is the World Ocean and water resources located on the territories of continents and islands. The depths of the sea are much less studied than the solidity of the Earth. This is sometimes forgotten when talking about the UFO phenomenon. But modern ufologists say: unidentified objects feel very comfortable under water too!

Background: NPO stands for "unidentified underwater (or floating) objects" - objects, phenomena of glow in the hydrosphere. Their origin remains incomprehensible to official science even after all the eyewitness accounts provided. This term was introduced by ufologists by analogy with UFOs, similar phenomena observed in space or in the Earth's atmosphere.

Detection history

People have known for a long time that the waters of the oceans hide unexplained objects. In Ancient Greece, Egypt, India (as well as in Japan, Scandinavia, America), in ancient legends, you can find references to "luminous monsters from the bottom of the sea." But legends are legends, and the first reports of observations, supported by documents, date back to the nineteenth century. Moreover, you cannot argue with the facts: the events are clearly recorded in the onboard logs of the ships - according to the members of the teams who made the observation.

* 1824. From the entry in the logbook: “On 12 August, at 3:30 am, the watch on deck discovered a glow: everything around was lit up with light. Looking east, we saw a large, rounded, luminous object rising at an angle of about 7 degrees from the surface of the water to the clouds, which then fell out of sight. The same picture was then repeated a second time. The object's body was the color of a red-hot cannonball, and the size was similar to the sun. It was emitting a strong light, and one could at least find a needle on the deck."

* 1845, June 18. The vessel "Victoria" cruised in the Indian Ocean. Suddenly, the entire crew saw a mysterious phenomenon. Within 10 minutes, half a mile from the brigantine, 3 sparkling objects flew out of the water and disappeared into the clouds. The sailors were able to clearly see them: they had (in their words) a disk shape 5 times larger than the Moon. NGOs were connected with each other by thin rods. Soon the disks appeared again and, approaching the surface of the ocean, went under the water.

* 1887. North Atlantic, Cape Reis. Members of the crew of the ship "Siberian" from England watched a disk emerging from the water, which emitted a bright glow. The object slowly rose above the water, but not too high, for some time moved against the wind, and then stopped, quickly picked up speed and disappeared into the sky. The event lasted about five minutes.

* In 1902, the sailors of the British ship "Fort Salisbury" saw in the Gulf of Guinea a huge, about 200 m long, dark "cigar with scales on the surface and red stop lights at the stern."

XX century presents

Reports of "glowing wheels" spinning under water or ultra-fast submarines that no one can catch up with, with the development of modern technologies, were supplemented by underwater instrumental observations. On audio (and then on video), movements of unknown objects and sounds emanating from them were periodically recorded.

At the end of World War II, some researchers believed that these objects were submarines of the Third Reich, which managed to escape from the allied forces. But many of the characteristics of the NGO, for example, speed and maneuverability, speed and depth of diving, were simply unattainable even by the best submarines at that time.

Years have passed, but there are no less unidentified floating objects. In the 50s and 70s of the last century, they were repeatedly pursued by US Navy ships, and from both sides of the North American continent.

* July 1957. A squadron of American planes in the Arctic has discovered a "steel dome". The report noted that when flying over the "dome", the onboard systems refused to the military.

* 1966. A military exercise called "Dean Freeze" was held in the North Atlantic. The maneuvers took place in the most difficult ice conditions, so icebreakers were involved. On board one of them was the famous polar explorer Rubens J. Villela. Together with the officer of the watch and the helmsman, he witnessed a fantastic spectacle - the start of an NGO.

The scientist described what he saw: “Suddenly, breaking through an almost three-meter thickness of ice, a silvery spherical body emerged from the depths and disappeared into the sky at great speed. The object was at least 12 yards in diameter, but the hole it pierced was much larger. At the same time, the cold water in it was covered with clouds of steam, probably from the hot casing of this ball."

* Soviet sailors have repeatedly witnessed such incidents. In 1965, in August, members of the crew of the ship "Raduga" observed in the Red Sea how a fireball more than 50 m in diameter rose from the water two miles from the ship and hovered at an altitude of 100-150 m above the sea, illuminating everything around. Following this, a column of water rose and fell down with a crash. The ball hung in the air for only a few minutes, then, smoothly picking up speed, disappeared from sight.

NGOs continue to pamper seafarers with their presence in the new millennium. So, on February 12, 2000, an unidentified object suddenly appeared from under the water. The captain of the ship Stephen Insider made an entry in the journal: “At 13:47, straight ahead, at a distance of 7 cables, with a terrible noise that turned into a whistle, an absolutely unidentifiable spherical object burst out from under the water, which, taking off to a height of a mile, unexpectedly with a huge speed rushed in the opposite direction and in a split second disappeared from sight."

Speedy ghosts of the oceans

With the development of the military-industrial complex and the use of high technologies, reports about NGOs that develop a speed inaccessible to all known warships began to leak into the press. So, in January 1960, 2 huge, unusual submarines were discovered near Argentina. One of them was lying on the ground, and the other was making circles over it.

On official inquiries to Washington and Moscow, replies were received that there were no submarines near the coast of the Navy. The Americans sent an aircraft carrier into this area. Over the course of a week, many depth charges were dropped on border trespassers, but this did not lead to any results. Mysterious and "indestructible" submarines subsequently surfaced and began to leave the military at an incredible speed. And when artillery fire was also opened on them, the submarines went under water, moving at an incredible speed. And broke away from the pursuit.

Devil's carousel

Not too far from the surface in the ocean, white or greenish, wheel-shaped lights with straight and curved "spokes" are often observed. Sometimes objects rotate. The diameter of the "luminous chariots" is different, from ten meters to several kilometers. And most often the glow comes from the surface of the water or from under it (some evidence mentions a glowing haze over the sea).

There are reports of several "wheels" that were close to each other. Mentions of this phenomenon can be found in Eastern and European medieval manuscripts. Moreover, among the Europeans it was considered a bad omen to see such a “luminous wheel,” while among the Chinese, on the contrary, it was a good sign for sailors on the way. It was the Chinese seafarers who called these objects "the wheels of the Buddha", and European sailors treated them with genuine, superstitious horror, calling them the devil's carousel.

Hypotheses about the origins of NGOs

Cases of meeting people with underwater objects give rise to a lot of assumptions and guesses: from regular visits to us by representatives of extraterrestrial civilizations to movements in space and time.

* Unknown civilization underwater

American scientist, explorer of the ocean depths A. Sanderson analyzed numerous archival materials of the US Navy and put forward an interesting and rather plausible hypothesis about the presence of a highly developed underwater civilization on our planet. Well, the version is not new: ideas about the existence of an authentic maritime culture have been voiced since ancient times, they were often developed by science fiction writers in literary works. And some scientists also developed hypotheses about an underwater civilization making attempts to contact humanity.

* Or maybe phosphorescent creatures?

There are many aquatic inhabitants in the seas, capable of emitting a glow in the dark. These include some species of fish, squid, even phytoplankton, which creates short-term flashes of light, quite bright. And under a certain set of circumstances, they can cause the glow of the ocean surface. However, such an explanation, for example, cannot be applied to most cases of observing "glowing wheels" or other objects. Therefore, this version does not stand up to criticism.

* Tests of the latest swimming facilities

There is a hypothesis that these facilities are the latest top-secret military developments. However, the governments of countries with such a technological base refute such statements by conspiracy theorists with enviable regularity.

* Underwater UFOs?

Some witnesses reported that objects can go deep and then fly out of the water, as well as drive along the surface with rays of light. Undoubtedly, for UFOs, the difference in the density of the atmosphere and the ocean does not cause, probably, difficulties in movement, but why then not a single case of movement of such objects under water at a speed exceeding the speed of sound was recorded, as it often happens in the atmosphere of the Earth?

In general, as usual: there are more questions than answers. Of course, if there is a strong desire to meet with NGOs, one can try to explain it with some hitherto unexplored hydrospheric phenomena, if not for their pronounced “technogenic shade”. And it can be interpreted as a meeting with devices created by extraterrestrial intelligence. But what does this threaten humanity is still a mystery.
