At the end of June this year in the British media and, in particular, in The Daily Mail, there was a message that a sword of the 13th century was put up for auction at one of the auctions. It would seem an ordinary event - but you never know a medieval piece of iron sold at auction ?! What has attracted the attention of the press so much? It turned out that the whole point is where this sword was found in due time.

The cave complex in the town of Cainton, Shropshire, in the west of England, has been known and studied relatively recently, since 1984. Since that time, the place has become one of the centers of pilgrimage for lovers of esotericism, secret cults and, of course, the Templar Order. Around the same time, one of the local residents, a certain Mark Lawton, found a sword in a cave, which he took with him. Lawton taught at a local boarding school and was going to use the find as a teaching tool …
What made Lawton, after such a long time, put the find up for sale is unknown. The experts at the auction argue that the sword could clearly be Templar, given the current version (by the way, the authorship of which I have never been able to establish) that these caves are directly related to the Templar Order. And if it was found there, then it belonged, of course, to the Templars. At a glance, everything is much simpler - the Templar property is much more valuable …
As for more plausible versions, these caves, carved in sandstone, can be dated no earlier than the 18th-19th centuries. Even the owners are known. This is the family of some Legge. And at first these caves were used as a quarry. But who then gave them the look that he has in our time - this is the most important mystery. Maybe these are the very descendants of the Templars. No one has been allowed into the cave for a long time, and even the entrance to it was almost completely filled up back in 2012 and now looks like a rabbit hole. The locals are fed up with the order of seekers of "Templar treasures" and other lovers of Freemasonry, who periodically tried to carry out some of their secret rituals there.
