Perhaps scientists have finally discovered Atlantis after a group of "man-made structures" in the North Atlantic left historians in confusion.
According to Express, many scholars have dedicated their lives to finding the mythical city first described by the Greek philosopher Plato in 360 BC. However, the discovery in the Azores near Portugal led historians to speculate that the landmass located today in the sea may be part of the lost city of Atlantis. Archaeologist Nuno Ribeiro of the Portuguese Association of Archaeological Researchers claims that the works of art found on the island suggest that the Azores was created by man and was inhabited by humans thousands of years ago.
“Some believe the islands may be the tops of Atlantis,” scientists say. - All islands are of volcanic origin, although some of them, such as Santa Maria, have not been active since settling the islands. The Azores is one of the highest mountains on the planet. Portuguese archaeologist Nuno Ribeiro discovered a small number of structures on the island that were used for burials 2,000 years ago.”
Some of the structures appear to date back to the Stone Age, suggesting that there was a civilization at that time advanced enough to travel and colonize the outlying islands.
The Stone Age is said to be between 9600 and 2000 BC, hundreds of years after Plato's descriptions.
