“Then I just came from the army,” says Yuri Lanchinsky, who served in the airborne troops.
Not believing in God or in the devil (Yuri considered the latter to be nothing more than an idle fiction of old people who have nothing else to do), the soldier came to live in the Moscow region, to the house that he inherited from his grandmother. His plans were to completely rebuild the dilapidated building: brick it, tile it, lay floors and dig a new, deeper cellar.
At first, the "legacy" made a very depressing impression on the young man. How could it be otherwise? Although everything inside was pretty clean, the walls were sloping, the pipe collapsed, the boards rotted … Therefore, without wasting time, Yuri set to work, destroying everything old and building new. In the evening he was so tired that he collapsed exhausted on the trestle bed in the large veranda corridor.
This is where it all started.
The point is that the presence of "something" was felt from the very beginning. Breaking floors and walls, Yuri from time to time felt an angry look on himself, but, turning around, did not see anyone. And then one day he went to bed earlier than usual - the seemingly strong shovel with which he was hollowing out the basement broke.
At night, the young man suddenly woke up. The room was lit by the moon, Yuri was lying with his back to the window, and right in front of him was a strange creature, similar to a large jerboa, but with some kind of disproportionate tail ending in a fleecy brush.
The mysterious creature gazed at the guy with bright red eyes, glowing with unfriendliness. As soon as "it" saw that Yuri was awake, it threw itself on his chest and began to choke him. The young man tried to jump up and shake off the furry monster, but found that he could not move his arm or leg. Then he tried to scare away the creature with a cry, but he could not even open his mouth.
“To say that I was scared means to say nothing - I was seized by some previously unknown horror, which only increased when I felt that it became difficult to breathe,” Yuri recalled, “something bad was happening to my heart”.

Asking himself the question of what to do, as he was taught in training in the army, Yuri suddenly immediately received an answer: to pray! The guy came to despair, because he did not know a single prayer, but the words came by themselves: "Lord, save and save: Lord, help!.."
Prayer, oddly enough, helped, and the evil creature let go of its victim, rushing away. Yuri got up and with trembling hands lit a lamp, leaving it to burn until morning. The brownie did not appear that night. But he came in the next! Like the first time, at first he sat at his feet, then attacked, tried to strangle the new tenant.
This went on for two weeks, but during this time the young man learned to defend himself: he learned the Lord's Prayer, bought a pectoral cross and slept with a lighted lamp, since the brownie did not appear at all in the light of the lamp.
It also turned out that the lohmach does not like witnesses. When Yuri left his girlfriend for the night, the night guest preferred not to appear.
And he disappeared as unexpectedly as he appeared. Just one day the young man felt that "he" was no longer there. The feeling of tension, the feeling of something unpleasant has also disappeared.
