Following Chelyabinsk, where the now world-famous meteorite fell recently, Novosibirsk also wanted to become famous. But this city did not manage to go on the space theme: the object that alarmed the inhabitants of Novosibirsk turned out to be not a meteorite of foreign origin, but a piece of silicon.

The researchers said that the origin of the object that fell on the territory of the Russian Post car depot is man-made, that is, it was created by man, the site of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia in the Novosibirsk region shows photos of the stone.

On the morning of April 25, some Russian media disseminated information that a celestial body had fallen on the territory of the motor depot of the federal postal administration, located in the Dzerzhinsky district of Novosibirsk.

The diameter of the object, according to eyewitnesses, is about 20 centimeters. Local residents claimed that the stone "fell from somewhere from the sky." Scientists and the Ministry of Emergency Situations immediately went to the site of the alleged fall. And they upset the residents of Novosibirsk.

Nikolai Podgornykh, head of the museum of the Institute of Geology and Mineralogy (IGM) of the SB RAS, said: “Research has shown that the object contains silicon or its derivative. If it has anything to do with space, then at first it was sent there by man."

He noted that the rock could be a piece of space debris. “I can't say with certainty that this is a fragment of a spacecraft, but it could be a consequence of some experiments in orbit - melting and the like,” he said.

The object that attracted so much attention left a small indentation in the asphalt. This object weighing no more than 100 grams has the shape of a triangular prism. According to the data of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations in the region, a chemical and radiometric examination carried out on the spot showed that the MPC was not exceeded, the object does not pose a threat.
