In July 1965, newspapers around the world were replete with sensational headlines about a UFO sighting over Antarctica. The mysterious object was observed by employees of research bases of three countries (Chile, Argentina and England), located on Deception Island.
It was also reported that these countries publicly reported this event. However, only the Argentine and Chilean authorities provided official reports. The British government stayed away.
Only this year, thanks to Officer Rodrigo Moore Visoni, the files of the event, belonging to the United Kingdom, were declassified.
The document is a report that refers to a UFO sighting on Deception Island from the British side.
In the declassified document, we can clearly see the credentials with no exceptions or hidden parts. The file contains a British Antarctic Survey (BAS) form with a report addressed to Secretary of Defense R. A. Langton and signed by the director of BAS, renowned Antarctic freight forwarder Sir Vivian Fuchs.
It is believed that the whole chain of events began when, on June 7, 1965, the meteorologist Jorge Stanic from the Argentine base observed a bright yellow stationary object in the sky at about 2,000 meters in the sky, which soon disappeared after a short stop.
According to Stanich, the mysterious object had a diameter of about 50 meters. The next day, base personnel saw the same object again.
