On July 19, 1952, closer to midnight, 7 moving objects appeared on the radar of the Washington airport at once. The first surprising fact is that the speed of the vehicles at first reached 2,000 km / h. For a moment, the speed of the most modern fighter at that time did not exceed 1,400 km / h.

Objects were spotted both at Andrews Air Force Base and at Boling Air Force Base, where they unsuccessfully tried to get in touch with a UFO. The movement of objects in no way resembled ordinary planes, either accelerating to 11,000 km / h, then hovering over the White House. By the time the F94s, raised by alarm, reached the place, the objects disappeared. But when the fighters, having exhausted their fuel reserves, returned to the base, the objects appeared again.

The story has just begun. Objects appeared periodically until July 29th. Tens of thousands of Washington residents are witnesses. Their appearances were recorded on photo and video films. Of course, the headlines of all newspapers, including the Washington Post and the New York Times, spoke only of this incident, dubbed the "Washington Carousel." For the sake of interest, I can advise you to study the declassified part of the FBI archive devoted to UFOs, near the end of which this case is described.

On July 29, the Pentagon hosted the largest press conference since World War II dedicated exclusively to the Washington Carousel, at which Air Force Intelligence Director Major General John Samford stated that the observed objects were due to air disturbances (meteors), and the observations of objects on radars are the result of air flow inversion. Moreover, Samfort assured everyone present that the objects did not even consist of solid materials, although five minutes earlier he had talked about meteors. As you can guess, these versions did not suit anyone, because we are talking about objects observed by almost every resident of the capital.

The described incident is perhaps the most striking example of how the case was hushed up as clumsily as possible, imposing a secrecy stamp on everything that was possible. Much more upsetting is the fact that the scientific community prefers simply not to notice this incident, instead of looking for an answer.
