A man named Bjorn Diehle, who was kayaking in the Berners Bay area of Alaska, saw the remains of an animal on the shore, probably thrown by the waves, but it was difficult to determine who they belonged to.
According to one of the assumptions, these are internal organs that could belong to the rare Pacific polar shark, but scientists have not yet given their answer.
Deele himself is not sure if it belonged to a polar shark. According to him, the insides are too large for these sharks and their owner must be gigantic. His first thought was that it was part of a whale's intestines.
The insides were over three meters long and their owner was obviously quite large. Diehle said it looked like a decaying liver. The insides smelled strongly of spoiled fish and ammonia.
Pacific polar sharks reach 4 meters in length and mostly swim at depths of up to 2,000 meters. In theory, the insides could belong to one of them, although it is unclear how they got to the beach from such great depths and were not eaten by marine or coastal predators. This kind of food is usually very quickly picked up by octopuses, crabs, salmon and other predatory fish.
Who could have killed a large polar shark? In these places, the main predators are killer whales - killer whales, but it is very strange that they did not touch the nutritious liver.

Dile finds all this very suspicious, and he is especially alarmed that there were practically no people who fell on the shore near the entrails, only a couple of seagulls were flying above. According to him, if the waves throw something edible on the shore, all kinds of lovers of carrion quickly appear here.
Biologist John Moran was also unable to determine what kind of insides. According to him, this is clearly not a part of a mammal, but perhaps the testes or liver of a polar shark. He also put forward the version that this is possibly part of a very large squid.
