The inventor and scientist Nikola Tesla had a very keen interest in the archaeological wonders of Egypt.
Few have contributed more to the widespread adoption of electricity in today's world than Tesla, a man whose accomplishments range from pioneering AC power to experimenting with transmitting electricity wirelessly through the air.
Back in 1905, he submitted a patent entitled "The art of transmitting electrical energy through the natural environment," which was based on his belief that the Earth itself is a giant electrical generator that can be used to provide a virtually unlimited amount of electricity.
Among his key inspirations were the pyramids of Giza - something that Tesla found endlessly fascinating. He believed that these ancient structures are themselves giant transmitters of energy, and he paid attention to them when he drew up his own projects.
His wireless test facilities, such as the Tesla Experiment Station in Colorado Springs and the Wardencliffe Tower on the east coast, were reportedly inspired by the pyramids.
Tesla also showed an obsession with the numbers 3, 6 and 9 to the point that he reportedly circled the building 3 times in front of the entrance and only stayed in hotels with multiples of 3. He will also make many of his day-to-day decisions based on those the same principles.
Many researchers now support his theory that pyramids are energy transmitters. It remains unclear, however, whether Tesla's true beliefs in this regard will ever be proven.
