Nick Jackson from Great Britain managed the almost impossible: he documented in photos and video the exact moment when the meteorite exploded and then disintegrated in the sky.
Photos and videos were taken during the Orionids meteor shower on October 20. Nick Jackson took pictures of Cloon Castle in Shropshire. In the middle of shooting, he saw a giant meteor outside the castle. It was very unusual to see a meteor of this size, he said. Since the photographer was shooting stellar tracks, he was not immediately able to check the footage. It was only when he returned home that he realized what exactly he had managed to capture.
“It's pure luck because when it happened I was taking a series of pictures,” Jackson said. "It's a matter of being in the right place at the right time."
The video consists of 30 photos taken by Jackson, in which the meteor first flies and then explodes. According to him, after the publication of the frames on Facebook, they wrote to him about his incredible luck, because something like this happens once in a lifetime. “The reason we photographers go out in the middle of the night and stand there in the cold is because we are obsessed with the beauty of the night sky, its peace. And when you finally see something like that, it makes a huge impression."
