A high IQ and beauty go hand in hand, despite the huge number of jokes about blonde beauties. Attractive men and women have higher IQ levels. Such conclusions were promoted by research at the London School of Economics.
Years of observation have helped scientists come to a common conclusion. People who are not deprived of a beautiful appearance become more successful in their studies and in the fields of their professional activity, which leads them to real success in life. The authors of the study voice real numbers, so the IQ level of a pretty Briton differs by 13.6 percent from the national average. Pretty British women also differ from their compatriots, but by 11.4 percent.
Researchers try to explain this fact by the fact that people in whom beauty and mind are combined are attracted one to one. As a result, their children receive from their parents not only beauty, but also high intellectual indicators that easily develop over the years. In the United States, similar observations were carried out, and they gave almost the same indicators among the population of the country.
“The UK and America are countries where physically attractive people often have high IQ levels, and their social class or general health is not at all important,” said study co-author Satoshi Kanazawa. "It's worth noting that men are more prone to a cocktail of physical attractiveness and high intelligence."
The bulk of the research by scientists at the London School of Economics was conducted on 17,419 men and women born in March 1958 in the UK. A group of scientists has been observing their improvement right from the day of birth. In early childhood, during school education, at a young age, and so on, an analysis of their academic, and not only, success is carried out using various tests. The National Center for Long-Term Study of Adolescent Health in the USA conducts similar observations, but for 35,000 people.
"In the process, when a mentally developed man gains a high social status and chooses an attractive woman as his chosen one, then, given the heredity of physical attractiveness and mental inclinations, an undeniable connection between intelligence and attractiveness is formed," Kanazawa says.
Based on these facts, Satoshi Kanazawa argues the irrelevance of the stereotype that beautiful women are stupid women. On the contrary, according to the researcher's convictions, good looks also mean a high level of mental ability.
Studies by British scientists, which took place in August, showed that men in a state of light intoxication are attracted even by not very pretty individuals of the opposite stature.

Newsweek conducted the survey in July 2010. Based on its results, it was concluded that among employees with the same level of qualifications, preference is given to those who are more attractive in appearance, not paying attention to experience.
