It turns out that the huge drawings on the terrain, which are visible only from a bird's eye view, were created not only in antiquity, one of them has a completely modern origin. Discovered in 1998, by the time it was determined a little later by experts, it was only about eighteen years old.
This is the world's largest geoglyph - Mareyskiy man. It is named so after the city of Mare in South Australia, near which this amazing image, 4.2 kilometers long, with a perimeter of the image of 28 kilometers, was discovered.
When creating it, experts say, a bulldozer was used. The ground was surveyed to a depth of 35 centimeters with a line width of the outer contour of 30 centimeters. When creating the Mareysky man, the technique traveled about four hundred kilometers. At the same time, the figure is made very skillfully. The author of the geoglyph, apparently, was not only an artist, but also possessed geodetic skills, as well as a sharp eye. Most likely, initially the contour of a person was "drawn" on the ground using a satellite program, and only then the technology got down to business. By the way, all this was carried out in strict secrecy, which is why the geoglyph was discovered only eighteen years later - quite by accident, when an airplane pilot flying over this area noticed him.
The first ground expeditions found an American flag near the geoglyph and a note in English indicating that the Davidova sect, whose center in Texas was attacked by the FBI at that time, was involved in this amazing creation. From this, the researchers of the Mareysky man concluded that the drawing was created by Americans or one of the US citizens. Surprisingly, even twenty years after the discovery of this geoglyph, it still remains a mystery to researchers.
