In the small Indian village of Piska Nagri, which is located near the city of Ranchi (Jharkhand state), a team of geologists led by Nitish Priyadarshi is studying rather large stone prints, which the locals believe are traces of the gods descending from the sky.
The prints are similar to the footprints of the soles of sandals that were actually worn by the inhabitants of this region thousands of years ago. One pair is 28 cm long and 13 cm wide, the other 25 cm long and 11 wide. According to Indian mythology, the gods Rama and Lakshmana spent some time in these places in search of Sita, the wife of Rama.
Priyadarshi said that the prints were found on granite, that is, in his opinion, they were more likely to have been carved than imprinted on such a hard rock. "The locals could have made them by hand to commemorate the extraordinary guests."
“On the same stone, we found footprints and images of flying objects - only on different sides. Perhaps they were carved to tell how two gods arrived at this place on some kind of flying object,”Priyadarshi said.
The age of the prints has not yet been established. Judging by the atmospheric influences to which the stone has been exposed since the mysterious signs appeared on it, their age should be calculated in thousands of years.
