Big data (or big data) has recently been increasingly used in various fields. Simply put, big data is a huge array of unstructured data that can be used for various purposes. They are processed by special programs based on artificial intelligence and very often extremely important results can be obtained at the output. And recently, the Russian medical community, together with the developers of AI systems, launched a large-scale project to create a national operator of biomedical data. In the future, it will help specialists make more accurate and accurate diagnoses and improve the detection and treatment of diseases.

According to the Kommersant publication, the development is carried out on the basis of the Association of Developers and Users of Artificial Intelligence Systems, the National Medical Knowledge Base. The medical all-Russian big data network will be created on the principles of public-private partnership. In this case, the state will be responsible for the safety of data, and the private sector - for services for analytics, diagnostics and treatment. Mikhail Yugay, General Director of the International Medical Cluster Foundation, said in an interview

At the moment, the key point is the ownership and safety of information. In this case, all data collected in the big data array will be depersonalized.

At the same time, it is believed that insurance companies can become the main users of the new system. They do not have direct access to medical information now, but the emergence of a depersonalized system could change everything.

However, it is not only in this area that big data will be useful. Knowing about the huge number of medical cases that can be processed by powerful AI algorithms will allow you to organize medical data and, on their basis, develop the latest technologies for the treatment and diagnosis of diseases (as IBM Watson is currently doing). By making access to big data open, it is possible to enable any doctor to “seek help” from AI and improve not only their skills, but also the lives and health of patients.
