Archaeologists have exposed our ancestors, who, as it turned out, were not fools to drink.
Eh. If this discovery had been made before 1961, perhaps Leonid Gaidai would have made the film "Moonshiners" not about the Soviet era, but the tsarist era. And not Coward, Goonies and Experienced would run away from the dog, but some archers who lived under Peter the Great. It turns out that in those days people were well versed in the laws of physics and drove moonshine for a sweet soul.
This was confirmed by the specialists of the Moscow City Heritage Agency, who established that a huge copper vessel found on the territory of Gostiny Dvor back in 1996 was intended for the production of fire water. Someone hid 95 thousand coins in it and buried it. The treasure is considered simply gigantic. And until now everyone thought that the jug was decorative (or maybe a kitchen jug for storing kvass). But then we looked closely and realized that this was part of the moonshine still.
Such finds are considered a rarity in archeology / mos.ru
This discovery might not have happened if archaeologists from Siberia had not arrived in Moscow. They found a similar jug four years ago. There, in the city of Mangazeya, our ancestors also loved to spoil and used a boiler for moonshine (with a wide rounded shoulder and a steam-collecting lid).
“In archeology, moonshine stills are a huge rarity,” said Aleksey Yemelyanov, head of the Moscow Department of Cultural Heritage, to KP. - They are practically not described. Now it is possible to look at an exceptional example of this product.
This can be done in the near future at the Museum of Moscow Archeology on Manezhnaya Square.
