It may seem unrealistic, but the twin sisters, who found out one day that they were expecting a baby, managed to give birth on the same day nine months later.
Erica and Tashina Ackley, who celebrated their 22nd birthday this week, were rushed to the maternity ward in Machias, Maine, one hour apart.
Tashina gave birth to a baby girl weighing about three kilograms, who was named Ivory Mae Cushing, and her sister Eric gave birth to a boy, Keiran Leighton Carter, weighing 2.7 kilograms.
Ivory was born at 8:54 a.m. and her cousin was born a few hours later.
“We thought it would be great if our children were born on the same day, but we did not expect this to actually happen,” Tashina said.
Her sister Erica added: “We did a pregnancy test together and it turned out that we were both pregnant. We went through all the necessary examinations before giving birth."
The twins, who even have "Gemini-1" and "Gemini-2" tattoos, reported the pregnancy of their mother Maria on the same day. But Erica was still the first.
“I waited for several hours. When I called, I asked my mother if she would like to have a grandchild in each hand the same way it was when she gave birth to us? She had no idea what I mean until I told her that I was also pregnant,”Tashina said.

On Sunday, Erica wrote on Facebook: “I'm so excited! I can't sleep and every 10 minutes I go to the bed to check how my dear boy is doing. He has a very good appetite, I am so happy. I can’t wait for the moment when we will be discharged!"
Young mothers have already returned home with their children. The newborns are absolutely healthy. For each of the twins, this is the first child.
