Scientists from the British University of Cardiff have biologically analyzed fragments of a meteorite that fell in Sri Lanka on December 29, 2012. According to the researchers, traces of biological structures of alien origin were found on the surface of the stones that fell from the sky, Technology Review reports.

University staff studied 628 fragments of a meteorite found in the area of the city of Polonnaruwa, where at the end of last year the "alien guest" collapsed. On the rocks, traces of melting are clearly visible, left after the passage of debris through the earth's atmosphere. The results of the analyzes showed a high content of organic matter and carbon in the pieces of the meteorite.

In addition, inside the stone fragments, the researchers discovered rounded structures, similar to algae fossils. Their diameter did not exceed 0.1 millimeters. On the surfaces of the "algae" it was possible to consider filamentous formations, which may well be flagella of extraterrestrial plants. Scientists are confident that the organic compounds they discovered are of alien origin (and not dirt brought on Earth), since they are located inside the stones. In addition, the nitrogen content of the remains is abnormally low.
