The researchers found that a tracking device that had previously been attached to a man-eating shark was thrown onto the beach. After examining the data obtained, scientists came to the conclusion that the 2.7-meter predator was the lunch for an even larger sea monster.

Scientists from the Smithsonian Institut in the United States, who fixed a tracking device on a healthy white shark, were going to record its route and were quite surprised when the bug was thrown onto an Australian beach just four months after the start of the study. The data transmitted by the device showed a sharp rise in temperature along with a sudden dive to a depth of 580 meters, reports Australian tabloid News com.au.

The researchers believe that these data, in particular the temperature, indicate that the 2.7-meter predator has entered the digestive tract of another much larger animal.

At the moment, scientists put forward the only version according to which a huge man-eating shark tore a dangerous predator to pieces. According to Geekosystem, they base their theory on an analysis of the findings indicating that the fish under observation was ripped apart by a monster approximately 16 feet (4.8 meters) long and weighing over 2 tons.

The researchers do not hide that what happened has puzzled them: they cannot identify the mysterious sea monster and do not understand the reasons for the attack. Meanwhile, the site Gizmodo Australia put forward several versions, according to which the attack was a "solution" to the territorial dispute or the monster living in the sea abyss satisfied its hunger with a 2.7-meter shark.

“When I first got to know this data, I was absolutely amazed,” admits Dave Rigg, director of the documentary Hunt for the Super Predator.

- After we received this information, everyone was interested in the answer to one question: “What was that?” It is obvious that it was eaten. But what can kill and eat a nearly 3-meter shark?"

Some bloggers have jokingly suggested blocking air traffic over Australia to avoid the giant monster attacking the planes, and posted a video demonstrating the attack.
