The researchers unveiled the hypothesis that it is possible to create an artificial atmosphere on the smallest planet in the solar system, Ceres, which in the future may make it the best option as an intermediate base for flight to distant worlds.

Ceres is a dwarf planet, and its diameter of 950 km makes it the smallest cosmic body among its “colleagues” in the solar system. Its orbital rotation is between the orbits of Mars and Venus.

Researchers believe that its rocky structure, which is ¼ of water and rich in minerals, could be a suitable option for creating space fuel for Earth's starships.

The location of Ceres is very successful, since the exoplanets of the solar system located around it will serve as a good source of resources, and the minimum gravity of the dwarf planet only helps in building a transshipment base.

The only obstacle to such rosy plans is the complete lack of atmosphere on Ceres. The researchers proposed to create something like a dome on the dwarf planet, inside which gravity and an atmosphere will be created. Over time, such domes will spread over the entire surface of Ceres, which will contribute to its colonization. Experts have already tried to create something similar on Earth, with the only difference that there was no gravity in the domes.
