Scientists, who have decided to seriously consider the possibility of colonizing Mars, warn that in the real world, unlike fantastic works, people are not very adapted for a long stay in outer space, that is, a many-month journey to the Red Planet is the lot of only the most persistent.
Researchers recalled the so-called "Nikolaev effect", described by Soviet physicians, who diagnosed cosmonaut Andriyan Nikolayev, who had been in space for eighteen days, with serious health problems - a decrease in the heart by twenty percent and a decrease in the minute circulation cycle. Subsequently, Nikolaev suffered two heart attacks in a year.
Thus, the plans to populate Mars, voiced, for example, by the head of the American space corporation SpaceX, Elon Musk, so far look too fantastic, experts say.
Musk, we recall, recently announced that in the next few decades the Red Planet will become a lively place - there, as the billionaire is sure, hundreds of ships with earthly colonists will rush, which will have to turn the lifeless Martian desert into a real oasis.
