Hello, friends. We continue our journey along the Adriatic, and specifically in Italian Trieste.
As it was said in the last part, on the old buildings of Trieste there are a lot of metal sticks sticking out of buildings almost according to Freud.
Why they are needed in such quantities from the point of view of heraldry is quite difficult to understand. Either in Trieste at one time there was a state according to the matryoshka scheme (the term of financial circuitry), or each apartment had its own state, hanging out flags. It seems to be another absurdity, but no other version suggests itself. It is not a fact that all the flagpoles have survived until now after the wars of the 19th and 20th centuries, otherwise there would be much more of them in the photo. What is the secret here? Let's take a close look at one of them.
Promotional video:
Why is there a fire hook at the top of the flagpole? Let's enlarge it more.
In general, the picture is becoming clearer. If you look closely, you can see that the flagpole was modified with a lifting device for the flag, and in a fairly modern way. And before this revision, no flag was supposed to be there. The tip of the stick just looked at one side of the streets, like a directional antenna. And received some signal. And the stick itself was connected to the metal connections of the building, either through the balcony railing, or through parts specially protruding from the building. And what devices along the streets could such flagpoles look at?
Oops … On the left we see again something similar to the exhibits of industrial exhibitions, and on the right, an ordinary billboard. Wikipedia is very interesting about her. An interesting thing in general, it turns out, is a patented design designed to streamline the distribution of advertising content in the city. Well, at the same time, the proceeds from such rental of places for pasting posters supported the city's utilities. And in the curbstones themselves, the wipers kept their tools, or even equipped city urinals in them. Smart and European. Let's take a look.
Very interesting pedestals, only in their design they more and more resemble the music kiosks described earlier. Actually, this is what they are, in fact, only in miniature and not for orchestras. And their main purpose is to generate the etheric field, which our flagpoles catch. As you might have guessed, there are no billboards and similar devices on the streets of Trieste now. Lanterns that fit the growth of these pedestals still remain and have even been modified for a wired network, and that's all. But in general it is quite competently - instead of unaesthetic wireless poles, it is much better and more practical to use such structures.
There is another interesting view.
There is a very strange contraption at the bridge, its purpose now defies identification.
Now there is not even a channel at this place. There are also questions about the buildings in the background, but I'll tell you about this separately in the next part. And the pedestals, among other things, worked not only for flagpoles and lanterns. It can be assumed that other public institutions too.
As you may have guessed, now there is nothing of the kind either.
In general, almost everywhere the same thing, but with European characteristics. And the lanterns now burn in a completely different way. I wonder how such lamps burned (also according to Freud, Europe after all).
Until next time, continued: "Part 3".
