I, Bodrov Viktor Alekseevich, at that time a 4th year student at the Leningrad Institute of Water Transport, in 1978 hunted under water in Serdolikovaya Bay. Koktebel. Shotgun, pneumatic, old, green, Soviet, in the form of a long tube with a handle. Harpoon.

The water temperature in the bay was only plus 13-15 degrees Celsius. I was only in swimming trunks. August. I have not seen any carnelians or monsters. Diving in a mask with a snorkel. Mostly swam with a pipe and looked down.

He went, reluctantly, into the water, shivering from the cold. At 10-15 meters from the shore, opposite the descent from the mountain to Serdolikovaya Bay, two fish were slowly swimming right below me at a depth of 1-1.5 meters. My height is 182 cm, and the length of the fish was about 2 m. The scales are 3-4 cm in diameter.

From above, the body thickness is about 28-30 cm. The body height of the fish was about 35-40 cm. The eyes are large, expressionless, cold-blooded, the diameter is 5-7 cm. In general, the fish looked like huge herring, silvery, with a dark back. The nose is pointed. It doesn't look like a mullet.

I thought that if my weak harpoon pierced the scales, then such a fish would take me wherever it wanted. And then maybe she also bites. The fish, swimming slowly, calmly looked up at me, only with dull, glazed eyes with dark pupils, without any reaction, and continued to sail calmly like two submarines perpendicular to the shore, courses parallel to each other.

It was terrible. I slowly turned towards the shore, got out of the water, dressed and left. Nobody believes me.

Then I asked about who it was, and from ichthyologists at the nearest marine station in Crimea, in all aquariums and museums, up to Barcelona (Spain), but no one told me anything.

I myself have not even found such fish in the pictures in the aquarium, the largest in Europe in Barcelona. And who they were, fish like two submarines, I still don't know. And nobody knows.
