Cyberspace must be under the control of special services, otherwise it is impossible to guarantee the proper level of security, said the first deputy director of the FSB of the Russian Federation Sergey Smirnov.

“For us professionals, it has long been clear that cyberspace should be under the control of the competent authorities. Without this, it is impossible to guarantee proper information security and successfully resist modern terrorist threats,”S. Smirnov told journalists in Bishkek on Thursday.

He said that at the 33rd meeting of the Council of the SCO Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure, a decision was worked out that creates "the necessary conditions for effective cooperation of competent authorities (SCO countries) in monitoring the global information space for such threats."

“Constant monitoring of the Internet, I mean, of course, only the problems associated with terrorism or extremism or organized crime,” stressed the first deputy director of the FSB of the Russian Federation.
