Actually, only its appearance in our twenty-first century turned out to be mysterious, when it seems that all the paintings and even the drafts of the great painters have long been discovered and systematized. True, thanks to private collectors, many priceless canvases literally disappear from this world, since they become inaccessible for public viewing.
For example, quite recently in Switzerland, a painting by Leonardo da Vinci, stolen at one time and taken out of Italy, was found - a portrait of Isabella D'Este, which the Italian painter painted in 1514.
And recently it became known that a hitherto unknown sketch of Saint Sebastian, tied to a tree, was found. This sketch by Leonardo da Vinci was discovered by accident. Back in March of this year, a French pensioner (who wished to remain anonymous) brought several drawings to the auction of the Tajan house, asking specialists to estimate their value. According to him, all this belonged to his father, and he did not even bother to describe what it was, who owned it, how much it cost.
The staff of the house Taja carefully studied the drawings provided to them and suddenly … found among them an original sketch made in ink. A thorough examination confirmed the guesses of the auction specialists - this drawing belongs to the pen of the outstanding Leonardo da Vinci, and it was written around 1482-1485.
According to preliminary estimates, this drawing could cost about 15 million euros. The pensioner did not even suspect what value he kept in his house until now …
