The name of the founder of the charitable organization "Sisters of the Missionary of Love" Mother Teresa has long become a household name. This is the name for people with pure thoughts who are ready to selflessly help those who need it. However, a new study by Canadian scientists casts doubt on the sainthood of the nun, reports Eurekalert, citing Studies in Religion, where the work of Montreal scholars was published in French.
Members of the University of Montreal research team led by William Raillant-Clark argue that the notion of Mother Teresa's holiness is grossly exaggerated. Scientists came to such conclusions after studying about 300 different documents that are related to the activities of the nun, who founded one of the largest charitable organizations in the world. These are the claims the Canadians made against the woman who died in 1997.
Love of suffering
Mother Teresa's organization became famous for opening dozens of shelters for the poor and homeless around the world. However, as the Canadian scientists found out, these shelters were very poorly equipped. Someone may say that this was due to the fact that the "Sisters of the Missionary of Love" did not have enough funds, but Canadians believe that Mother Teresa kept her charges in a black body on purpose. In one of her interviews, a nun canonized after her death, said that suffering enriches the world and "there is something beautiful in the contemplation of how the poor, like Christ, bear their burden."

Mother Teresa has always spoken out against abortion. Even if a woman who became pregnant after being raped wanted to do it. Not all fellow believers shared this point of view of the nun.

Savings on charity
The money that went through Theresa's fund went through bank accounts, about which, according to Canadians, nothing is known. Thus, the entire accounting department of the organization still remains "black": it is impossible to say how much money went to the account of the "Sisters of Missionaries of Love" and how it was spent. During the nun's lifetime, Mother Teresa's organization was accused of spending only 7% of its budget on charity.
