In 2008, there were about 45 ships on the account of Somali pirates. The shipping business was simply in a fever - still, a handful of natives armed with rusty machine guns kept half the world in fear. But a few more years passed and the Somali pirates just took it and ended. The story behind the disappearance of the Somalis is worthy of a blockbuster in its own right.

The pirates' tactics were very simple. In light boats, the Somalis overtook the ships, opened warning fire and climbed aboard. For five years "businessmen" put into circulation more than one and a half hundred ships.

Troops of 21 countries of the world chased the pirates. Battle cruisers, drones - and it's all wasted. Of course, there have been successful operations, but the elusive Somalis continued to attack the ships.

In the end, the Al-Nahyam family, the ruling dynasty of the emirate of Abu Dhabi, took up the pirate business. The oil tycoons did not like losing tankers to some savages: they hired Eric Prince, the founder of Blackwater.

Several thousand professional fighters with the proper equipment (up to combat helicopters) moved towards Somalia.
It took the mercenaries only 2 years to do what the coalition from 21 countries of the world could not do. Since May 10, 2012, no more ships have been hijacked - the Somali pirates simply ceased to exist.
