Despite the triumph of science and huge leaps in technological progress, planet Earth and its population continue to keep faith in mystical places. To outline the circle of mystical places on the planet, you need to decide on the conceptual apparatus, namely, what mystical places are. In the traditional sense, mysticism is a belief in something supernatural, unusual, over-human. In this interpretation, mystical places include most of the sacred places, religious objects - after all, belief in the divine is also mysticism.
The list below contains slightly different mystical places, such that legends and facts associate with unknown disasters, deaths and tragedies ("dark mysticism"). The second part of the list is reserved for "light mysticism", divine and religious. It describes places that contribute to the rise of spirituality, attract pilgrims from all over the world, seeking to join the higher forces.
"Dark" mystical places
Bermuda Triangle
It is the Atlantic Ocean region between Puerto Rico, the Florida Peninsula and Bermuda that comes to mind first at the mention of mysteries, mysticism, mysterious disappearances and disasters. According to many, in the mystical place of the Bermuda Triangle, more than a dozen ships and planes disappeared, as well as hundreds and even thousands of people. Such a gloomy mystical glory went to the area due to difficult weather conditions - the researchers found that the Bermuda Triangle is a really difficult area in terms of navigation. There are many shallows, reefs and rocks, dangerous whirlpools in this place. Supporters of mysticism claim that aliens, secret services and even the inhabitants of Atlantis are operating in the triangle. And skeptics believe that the number of disasters in this place is no more than in other parts of the ocean, and is due to natural causes.

Overtone bridge
The ancient arched stone bridge in Scotland became a mystical place not so long ago - a century and a half ago. Until the 1850s, Overtown was no different from many similar bridges in the country, but at one point mysterious things began to happen here. From one of the arches of the bridge, dogs of different breeds and ages began to be thrown into the gorge. Once or twice a month, dogs from all over the area converged and jumped down from the bridge and died. Scientists say dogs are drawn downward by the smell of small rodents. But this version does not explain another mystical fact - by a miracle the surviving dogs again climbed the slopes of the ravine and jumped from the bridge for the second time!
Valleys
Black bamboo hollow
In the list of gloomy mystical places, two valleys can be distinguished at once. The first is located in China and is called the "black bamboo hollow". This mystical place has been covered with secrets and dark speculations for more than a century. The first major incident of our time happened here in 1950 - a passenger airliner crashed in a hollow, and after a short time about a hundred people went missing here. In 1962, a geological expedition with a guide went to the valley to study - everyone disappeared, except for the guide. It was he who told that the people were enveloped in a thick fog, which subsided in a few minutes. Together with the expedition. In 1966, cartographers disappeared in this area, and 10 years later - a group of foresters. Local residents put forward various theories, ranging from the negative influence of the dell's vapor and ending with a mystical door to another world.
Valley of the Headless Gold Miners in Canada
The second mystical place of this kind is located in Canada, on the banks of the South Nahanni River. The first casualties in the valley occurred in 1898, when the gold rush left the Klondike and moved to other parts of Canada. At that time, six gold diggers went to the valley, and a few months later, decapitated bodies of people were found on the banks of the river. Such incidents recurred every few years, and in 1978 a well-equipped team of scientists disappeared in this place. The expedition sent in search of them did not find any traces of people.
Islands
Sable Island
This list includes not only two valleys, but also two gloomy islands, differing in history and location. Sable Island is located in the Atlantic Ocean, and at the moment is practically not considered a mystical place (except for the occasional ghosts that appear there). And these ghosts appeared on Sable after a series of shipwrecks. In past centuries, when there were no lighthouses in this place, ships regularly suffered distress along its shores. This was due to the nature of the currents in this water area (the Labrador Current and the Gulf Stream meet here), as well as with eddies and shoals. The last major disaster in the mystical place occurred in 1947, after which lighthouses and a radio tower were built on Sable, as well as technical personnel were stationed.
Venice-Poveglia
Another spooky island, Poveglia, lies within the borders of Venice. In the Middle Ages, people dying of the plague were brought to Poveglia. On the same island, the unfortunates were buried, but the space soon became not enough - and the corpses began to burn. In aggregate, over several centuries, about 160 thousand inhabitants of Venice died on the island. For a long time after that, Poveglia was empty, but in 1922 a psychiatric hospital was opened there. Her patients often saw the ghosts of people buried here, and the head of the hospital conducted forbidden experiments. In 1968, the hospital was closed, and since then Poveglia has been empty. But even the locals are wary of this mystical place, try to bypass it and avoid talking about it.
"Bright" mystical places
This category includes territories and objects in which visitors note the activity of supernatural forces. An essential part of "light mysticism" consists of religious mystical places associated with this or that belief.
Uluru
Australia is rich in natural attractions, which cannot be said about mystical places and zones. A hill called Uluru, located in the heart of the continent, is considered the most sacred site of the local Aborigines. Anyone except the original owners of the area is prohibited from climbing to the top of the hill. But even the foot of Uluru is impressive - a lot of drawings, inscriptions and carvings make you believe in the legend about the abode of the local patron saint - the water python.
Great Barrier Reef
It is difficult to call the largest coral compound on Earth something mystical until you visit it. The mystical coral reef, which can be seen even from space, gives the impression of a single intelligent organism that has its own consciousness. Realizing the size of the object (more than 2500 kilometers along Australia) leads to rethinking yourself as a person.
Sedona
In the southwestern part of the United States, in the state of Arizona, there is a small city called the Mecca of America. In the desert, among the sands, there is a fairly green area, notable for its small tornadoes. This phenomenon is created by warm air masses around the city, but pilgrims firmly believe in the divine nature of the whirlwinds. They claim that the center of energies is located in Sedona, and the vortices are the manifestation of high matters in this mystical place.
Kailash
In the center of the Tibetan mountains there is a mystical peak, which is sacred for three religions at once (Hinduism, Jainism, Buddhism). A few units seek permission to rise, while they first need to undergo a rite of purification and enrichment. Those who could not climb Kailash are content with a triple walk around the mountain. These mystical actions fill the pilgrims with energy and help to heal (in their opinion).
Sinai
Another mystical mountain, only located in Egypt. The Bible tells of the mountain as the place where Moses received the commandments directly from the hands of God. Now Xi'an Mountain is one of the main mystical Christian centers of pilgrimage, while access here is open to representatives of other religions. There is a monastery and a church on the mountain. The ascent to Sinai is often carried out at night, as meeting the dawn at the summit is an indescribable action.
Meteora
The Greek complex of monasteries in the highlands is considered one of the main centers of spiritual development. The first Christian monasteries appeared here in the 9th century, and since then the complex has grown significantly. Now this mystical place is visited by thousands of pilgrims. But even now that primitive sense of solitude and spiritual unity hovers here.
